Technical aspects of HLA antibody testing
Current Opinion in Organ Transplantation, 2013Since the landmark studies of Patel and Terasaki, pretransplant identification of donor-directed HLA alloantibodies (DSAs) has been a critical prelude to renal allograft transplantation. Pretransplant, DSAs may be an acceptable risk or an unconditional contraindication to transplantation depending on the particular donor : recipient combination ...

The Effect of HLA Antibodies on Platelet Aggregation
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1977Twelve different HLA antisera, detecting antigens of both A and B series and the superspecificities w4 and w6, were tested for platelet‐aggregating activity in 75 antiserum‐platelet combinations. The correlation between the HLA specificities of the antisera and the aggregating effect on platelets carrying the corresponding antigens was significant (P ...

Impact of HLA Antibodies on Transplant Glomerulopathy
Transplantation Proceedings, 2005The influence of humoral rejection on the development of chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN) is controversial, especially in relation to transplant glomerulopathy. The aim of our study was to analyse the influence of anti-HLA antibodies on the development of transplant glomerulopathy (cg0, cg1, cg2, and cg3; Banff'97). We selected all renal transplants

HLA-A, B, C Monoclonal Antibodies
1984Since Kohler and Milstein (1975) perfected the hybridroma technique, it has been possible to produce monoclonal antibodies (Mo Abs) which react against antigens of the human MHC. This technology allowed the production of some polymorphic reagents, of which 54 HLA-A and B Mo Abs were selected for the Ninth Workshop; 49 of these had clear HLA-A or B ...

HLA Antibodies and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia
Acta Haematologica, 2004A female baby with a severe thrombocytopenia at 18 × 109/l was born to a 29-year-old (gestation 2/partum 2) mother. Scattered petechiae were present on her legs, arms, chest and face, but there was no bleeding, infection, fever or hepatosplenomegaly.

Characterization of an antibody specific for HLA-A36 and not reactive with HLA-A1
Human Immunology, 2011Humoral sensitization to HLA often results in antibodies to public determinants shared among two or more antigens. Although monoclonal antibodies to A36 have been produced, there are no reports of polyclonal antibodies that react with A36 but not A1. We report here sera from a heart transplant recipient that reacted with A36 but not A1 in tests with ...

A murine monoclonal antibody detecting HLA‐A30 and HLA‐A31
Tissue Antigens, 1991We report here the production and characterization of a murine cytotoxic monoclonal antibody (mAb) specific for HLA-A30 and A31 antigens.

HLA antibody responses in HLA class I transgenic mice
Immunogenetics, 1990In a previous report we described how cross-immunizations of pairs of transgenic mice expressing different HLA class I antigens led to the production of antibodies directed exclusively at polymorphic epitopes. This was ascribed to self-tolerance of HLA that prevents immune responses to monomorphic epitopes and focuses responses on polymorphic ones.

Reduction of HLA antibodies by bi-specific antibody blinatumomab
Human ImmunologyDonor specific antibodies against human leukocyte antigen (HLA) can cause engraftment failure in hemopoietic stem cell transplantation, or antibody mediated rejection in solid organ transplantation. To increase the chance of successful transplants, donor specific antibodies have to be reduced or depleted in patients with high levels of HLA antibodies ...
