Hydrostatic pressure mimicking diurnal spinal movements maintains anabolic turnover in bovine nucleus pulposus cells in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Cells & Materials, 2021
Treatment strategies for progressive intervertebral-disc degeneration often alleviate pain and other symptoms. With the goal of developing strategies to promote the regeneration of the nucleus pulposus (NP), the present study tried to identify the ...

Growth inhibition associated with disruption of the actin cytoskeleton by Latrunculin A in rhabdomyosarcoma cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Functional genomic screening of KRAS-driven mouse sarcomas was previously employed to identify proliferation-relevant genes. Genes identified included Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 (Ube2c), Centromere Protein E (Cenpe), Hyaluronan Synthase 2 (Has2 ...

Prognostic value of midkine, syndecan-1, hyaluronan synthase-2, sestrin-1, laminin subunit alpha-4 and fibulin-3 for malignant pleural mesothelioma

open access: yesArchives of Medical Science, 2021
Introduction The prognosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is poor, with a limited survival time. In this study, we aimed to examine expression levels of genes selected from relevant literature and to utilize in silico methods to determine genes ...

Keratinocyte Growth Factor Stimulates Migration and Hyaluronan Synthesis in the Epidermis by Activation of Keratinocyte Hyaluronan Synthases 2 and 3 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2003
Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) activates keratinocyte migration and stimulates wound healing. Hyaluronan, an extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycan that accumulates in wounded epidermis, is known to promote cell migration, suggesting that increased synthesis of hyaluronan might be associated with the KGF response in keratinocytes.

Inverse expression of hyaluronidase 2 and hyaluronan synthases 1–3 is associated with reduced hyaluronan content in malignant cutaneous melanoma [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2013
Hyaluronan is an extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycan involved in invasion, proliferation and metastasis of various types of carcinomas. In many cancers, aberrant hyaluronan expression implicates disease progression and metastatic potential. Melanoma is an aggressive skin cancer.

Dieckol Isolated from Eisenia bicyclis Ameliorates Wrinkling and Improves Skin Hydration via MAPK/AP-1 and TGF-β/Smad Signaling Pathways in UVB-Irradiated Hairless Mice

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2022
Repetitive exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) is one of the main causes of skin photoaging. We previously reported that dieckol isolated from Eisenia bicyclis extract has potential anti-photoaging effects in UVB-irradiated Hs68 cells.
