2,4-Dinitrobenzaldehyde hydrazone [PDF]
The title compound, C(7)H(6)N(4)O(4), plays an important role in the synthesis of biologically active compounds. The planar hydrazone group is oriented at a dihedral angle of 8.27 (3)° with respect to the benzene ring. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules.

A simple procedure for synthesis of 3H-quinazolin-4-one hydrazones under mild conditions
Condensation of 6-bromo- and 6,8-dibromo-2-hydrazino-3-phenyl-3H-quinazolin-4-ones with d-sugars in the presence of a catalytic quantity of glacial acetic acid gave the corresponding hydrazones in good yields.
