In vitro selective growth-inhibitory effect of 8-hydroxyquinoline on Clostridium perfringens versus Bifidobacteria in a medium containing chicken ileal digesta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis is generally controlled by antibiotics. However, because of increasing antibiotic resistance, other antibacterial agents are required, preferably ones that do not affect the beneficial intestinal ...

Preparation of 8-hydroxyquinoline wires by decomposition of tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminium [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Nanoscience, 2012
We fabricated 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ) wires by two methods, decomposition of tris(HQ) aluminium at low pressure in a tube furnace and heating of HQ powder at atmospheric pressure. Fabricated wires were crystalline, and exhibited the same optical properties (absorption and photoluminescence) as HQ powder.

Novel highly emissive non proteinogenic amino acids : synthesis of 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl asparagines and evaluation as fluorimetric chemosensors for biologically relevant transition metal cations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Highly emissive heterocyclic asparagine derivatives bearing a 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl unit at the side chain, functionalised with electron donor or acceptor groups, were synthesised and evaluated as amino acid based fluorimetric chemosensors for metal cations

Navigating the Chemical Space of Multitarget-Directed Ligands:From Hybrids to Fragments in Alzheimer's Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Multitarget drug discovery is one of the hottest topics and most active fields in the search for new molecules against Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Over the last 20 years, many promising multitarget-directed ligands (MTDLs) have been identified and ...

Synthesis, Characterization, and Anti-Phytopathogen Evaluation of 6-Oxychitosan Derivatives Containing N-Quaternized Moieties in Its Backbone

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2018
The structure modification of chitosan has great application potential. 6-Oxychitosan was prepared by specially oxidizing the C6-OH of chitosan, then 6-oxychitosan was reacted with three kinds of aldehydes to prepare N-quaternized 6-oxychitosan ...

Organocatalytic Enantioselective Functionalization of Hydroxyquinolines through an aza-Friedel-Crafts Alkylation with Isatin-derived Ketimines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A highly enantioselective addition o hydroxyquinolines to isatin-derived ketimines hasbeen realized using a quinine-derived thiourea organocatalyst. The reaction affords chiral 3-amino-2-oxindoles bearing a quinoline moiety with a quaternary stereocenter

The Crystal Structures of Metal 8-Hydroxyquinolinate. I. Copper 8-Hydroxyquinolinate [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1963
Abstract The crystal structure of anhydrous copper 8-hydroxyquinolinate has been determined by the two-dimensional Fourier method. It is monoclinic and has been shown to belong to the B21/a space group, with eight molecules in a cell of the dimensions: a=23.66, b=8.72, c=15.30Å and β=117.5.
