Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α plays an important role in the homeostasis of articular cartilage in hypoxic environments. Therefore, modulation of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α by regulating the oxygen environment could be a useful treatment for ...

Modulating hypoxia-inducible transcription by disrupting the HIF-1-DNA interface [PDF]
Transcription mediated by hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF-1) contributes to tumor angiogenesis and metastasis but is also involved in activation of cell-death pathways and normal physiological processes. Given the complexity of HIF-1 signaling, it could be

Hypoxia promotes the epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal tubular epithelial cells via the SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐autophagy pathway, thereby resulting in the fibrosis of renal tubular epithelial cells. Activation of SIRT1 or induction of autophagy inhibits this process, alleviating hypoxia‐induced fibrosis.

Inhibiting Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 1 for Cancer Therapy [PDF]
AbstractHypoxia has long been recognized as a common feature of solid tumors and a negative prognostic factor for response to treatment and survival of cancer patients. The discovery of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1), a molecular determinant of the response of mammalian cells to hypoxia, has led to the identification of a “molecular target” of ...

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

Radioresistance is the major factor of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) treatment failure and relapse. Hypoxia and autophagy are linked to radioresistance and poor prognosis in solid tumors, but mechanisms remain unknown.
