[Molecular factors of cerebral hypoxia-ischemia].
Revista de neurologia, 1996In recent years much has been learned about the cellular and molecular events underlying cerebral hypoxia-ischemia (HI). We review, from a molecular standpoint, the main pathogenetic theories in hypoxic-ischemic cerebral injury, including excitotoxicity, free radical damage, and the role of growth factors, proto-oncogenes and heat shock proteins.

[Cell death in neonatal hypoxia-ischemia].
Revista de neurologia, 2000To review the mechanisms of cell death (CD) in the developing brain after hypoxia-ischemia (HI).The possibility of limiting the CD which occurs in serious situations of cerebral HI is based on advances in the understanding of the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms. Various experimental models offer the opportunity to study these mechanisms in

[Epileptic signs of neonatal hypoxia-ischemia].
Revista de neurologia, 2000Neonatal convulsions are usually symptomatic and originate mainly from a hypoxic-ischemic (H-I) lesion. The high incidence of crises and their serious sequelas have led us to carry out this retrospective study. We studied 54 histories of neonatal H-I and epileptic crises, analyzing 45 variables and evaluating their diagnostic concordance. In 20 children ...
