Phosphorylase Kinase Isoenzymes in Deficient ICR/IAn Mice [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1978
ICR/IAn mice present a deficiency in phosphorylase kinase activity; the extent of this deficiency is less in some tissues (Lyon, S. B. Biochem. Genet. 4, 169–185 (1970)] than in skeletal muscle, where enzyme activity is 0.3% of normal [Cohen, P. T. W. & Cohen, P. FEBS Lett. 29, 113–115 (1973)]. New‐born mice of this strain were also reported (Lyon,

Cholesterol-Lowering Effect of Allicin on Hypercholesterolemic ICR Mice [PDF]

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, 2012
Allicin was discussed as an active compound with regard to the beneficial effects of garlic in atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the cholesterol-lowering properties of allicin. In order to examine its effects on hypercholesterolemia in male ICR mice, this compound with doses of 5, 10, or 20 mg/kg body weight was given orally ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
