The frequency and prognostic effect of TERT promoter mutation in diffuse gliomas

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications, 2017
Mutations in the telomerase reverse transcriptase gene promoter (TERTp) are common in glioblastomas (GBMs) and oligodendrogliomas (ODGs), and therefore, have a key role in tumorigenesis and may be of prognostic value.

Hypoxia and glucose metabolism assessed by FMISO and FDG PET for predicting IDH1 mutation and 1p/19q codeletion status in newly diagnosed malignant gliomas

open access: yesEJNMMI Research, 2021
Background Tumor hypoxia and glycolysis have been recognized as determinant factors characterizing tumor aggressiveness in malignant gliomas. To clarify in vivo hypoxia and glucose metabolism in relation to isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation and ...

Ultra-Fast Intraoperative IDH-Mutation Analysis Enables Rapid Stratification and Therapy Planning in Diffuse Gliomas. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci
Diffuse gliomas are the most common primary brain tumors in adults in the Western world. According to the 2021 World Health Organization (WHO) classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors, the assessment of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1/2 ...

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

MEGF10, a Glioma Survival-Associated Molecular Signature, Predicts IDH Mutation Status

open access: yes, 2018
Glioma is the most common primary brain tumor with various genetic alterations; among which, IDH mutation is the most common mutation and plays an important role in glioma early development, especially in lower grade glioma (LGG, WHO II-III).

Dual phenotypes in recurrent astrocytoma, IDH-mutant; coexistence of IDH-mutant and IDH-wildtype components: a case report with genetic and epigenetic analysis

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications
Mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) gene are recognized as the key drivers in the oncogenesis of astrocytoma and oligodendroglioma. However, the significance of IDH mutation in tumor maintenance and malignant transformation has not been ...

Isocitrate dehydrogenase inhibitors in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesBiomarker Research, 2019
Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) is a key enzyme involved in the conversion of isocitrate to α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. IDH mutation produces a neomorphic enzyme, which can lead to the abnormal accumulation of R-2-HG and ...

Impact of mutations in epigenetic modifiers in acute myeloid leukemia: A systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
This is a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating the prognostic significance of epigenetic mutations on the overall survival (OS) in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). We searched for studies evaluating epigenetic mutations in AML (up to November 2018)

Spatial and Volumetric Characteristics of Glioblastoma: Associations With Clinical Presentation and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We aim to comprehensively analyze how regional tumor and edema characteristics are associated with clinical presentations and survival outcomes in a large cohort of glioblastoma patients. Methods Patients with IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma who received brain MRI from 2010 to 2023 were included.

Integrated PANoptosis Profiling Identifies Immunosuppressive Subtypes and a Prognostic Signature With Functional Validation of MLKL in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The prognosis of glioblastoma (GBM) remains highly unfavorable, largely due to high tumor heterogeneity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment. However, the functional role of PANoptosis in this context is poorly understood. Methods Patients were stratified via K‐means clustering. A risk score model was constructed using prognosis‐
