Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Estimating daily semantic segmentation maps of classified ocean eddies using sea level anomaly data from along-track altimetry

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence
Mesoscale eddies, which are fast-moving rotating water bodies in the ocean with horizontal scales ranging from 10 km to 100 km and above, are considered to be the weather of the oceans.

IgG Adhesion on Hydrophobic Surfaces: Theory, Modelling, and Application to ELISA [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assays (ELISA) are a range of widely used analytical methods whose implementation requires to build antibodies (IgG) thin films onto surfaces predominantly made of polystyrene. The high hydrophobicity of polystyrene ensures a spontaneous and strong adhesion of proteins allowing to easily build IgG monolayers. Since the ELISA

Beyond Vaccination Rates: A Synthetic Random Proxy Metric of Total SARS-CoV-2 Immunity Seroprevalence in the Community [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Explicit knowledge of total community-level immune seroprevalence is critical to developing policies to mitigate the social and clinical impact of SARS-CoV-2. Publicly available vaccination data are frequently cited as a proxy for population immunity, but this metric ignores the effects of naturally-acquired immunity, which varies broadly throughout ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

Modulating IgG effector function by Fc glycan engineering

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2017
Significance The N-glycan composition of the constant (Fc) domain of IgG can modulate antibody effector functions by affecting the ability of the Fc to bind various Fc receptors (FcγRs).

Lymphocyte membrane IgG and secreted IgG are structurally and allotypically distinct. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of experimental medicine, 1980
We have demonstrated that there are structurally distinct membrane and secreted IgG2a immunoglobulin molecules. The membrane heavy chain is both larger and more acidic than the secreted molecule. This difference is not a result of different N-glycosidic-linked oligosaccharide chains.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

The Imperative of Co-existence

open access: yesTechnophany
In this article I examine the problem of technique in Georges Bataille's social ontology by means of a counterpoint with Bernard Stiegler's philosophy. I will defend the following theses: 1.
