Relationship between IL-6, IL-1β, and vitamin D on frailty status in elderly women

open access: yesBali Medical Journal, 2021
Background: The aging process is associated with an increase in proinflammatory markers' serum levels, indicating that a chronic inflammatory process is correlated with an increase in disability, mortality, and frailty. Pro-inflammatory cytokines that increase with the incidence of frailty syndrome are IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α.

In Silico Identification of Natural Product-Based Inhibitors Targeting IL-1β/IL-1R Protein–Protein Interface

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
IL-1β mediates inflammation and regulates immune responses, cell proliferation, and differentiation. Dysregulation of IL-1β is linked to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

N-GSDMD trafficking to neutrophil organelles facilitates IL-1β release independently of plasma membrane pores and pyroptosis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Gasdermin-D (GSDMD) in inflammasome-activated macrophages is cleaved by caspase-1 to generate N-GSDMD fragments. N-GSDMD then oligomerizes in the plasma membrane (PM) to form pores that increase membrane permeability, leading to pyroptosis and IL-1β ...

Intracellular Chloride Concentration Changes Modulate IL-1β Expression and Secretion in Human Bronchial Epithelial Cultured Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by mutations in the CFTR gene, which encodes a cAMP‐regulated chloride channel. Several cellular functions are altered in CF cells. However, it is not clear how the CFTR failure induces those alterations.

The expression of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-10 in the diabetes mellitus condition induced by the combination of spirulina and chitosan

open access: yesBali Medical Journal, 2020
Background: Rapid wound healing is needed after tooth extraction treatment so that prosthodontics treatment can be done immediately. However, systemic diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, can inhibit the wound healing process. The state of hyperglycemia in people with diabetes mellitus can interfere with the function of macrophages and neutrophils ...

Ursolic acid enhances macrophage autophagy and attenuates atherogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Macrophage autophagy has been shown to be protective against atherosclerosis. We previously discovered that ursolic acid (UA) promoted cancer cell autophagy.

Nox2 dependent redox-regulation of microglial response to amyloid-β stimulation and microgliosis in aging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Microglia express constitutively a Nox2 enzyme that is involved in neuroinflammation by the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Amyloid β (Aβ) plays a crucial role in Alzheimer’s disease.

Tumor Cell-Derived IL-1β Promotes Desmoplasia and Immune Suppression in Pancreatic Cancer.

open access: yesCancer Research, 2020
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) is an aggressive malignancy typified by a highly stromal and weakly immunogenic tumor microenvironment that promotes tumor evolution and contributes to therapeutic resistance.

Newcastle disease virus RNA-induced IL-1β expression via the NLRP3/caspase-1 inflammasome

open access: yesVeterinary Research, 2020
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) infection causes severe inflammation and is a highly contagious disease in poultry. Virulent NDV strains (GM) induce large quantities of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), which is the central mediator of the inflammatory reaction ...

IL-1β turnover by the UBE2L3 ubiquitin conjugating enzyme and HECT E3 ligases limits inflammation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) has pivotal roles in antimicrobial immunity, but also incites inflammatory disease. Bioactive IL-1β is released following proteolytic maturation of the pro-IL-1β precursor by caspase-1.
