Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Biological mechanisms and therapeutic prospects of interleukin-33 in pathogenesis and treatment of allergic disease

open access: yesJournal of Inflammation
Allergic diseases significantly impact the quality of life of people around the world. Cytokines play a crucial role in regulating the immune system. Due to their importance in pro-inflammatory mechanisms, cytokines are used to understand pathogenesis ...

Recombinant IL-33 prolongs leflunomide-mediated graft survival through reducing Th1-type cytokine IFN-γ and expanding CD4+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Treg) in concordant heart transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Interleukin-33 (IL-33) promotes DNA damage-resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Resistance to DNA damage is one of the primary mechanisms by which tumor cells evade the effects of standard chemotherapeutic agents and radiotherapy. Dynamic and complex interactions between the tumor microenvironment (TME) and tumor cells critically ...
