Decreased Interleukin-4 Release from the Neurons of the Locus Coeruleus in Response to Immobilization Stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
It has been demonstrated that immobilization (IMO) stress affects neuroimmune systems followed by alterations of physiology and behavior. Interleukin-4 (IL-4), an anti-inflammatory cytokine, is known to regulate inflammation caused by immune challenge ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Vasopressin modulates hypothalamo-pituitary activity by paracrine action during acute and chronic immobilization stress in rats [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biological Sciences, 2011
The aim of the study was to examine changes in corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH), vasopressin (VP), adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) as well as VP3 receptor protein concentration in the hypothalamus and the pituitary of rats exposed to acute (3 h) and ...

Bioaugmentation of UASB reactors with immobilized Sulfurospirillum barnesii for simultaneous selenate and nitrate removal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Whole-cell immobilization of selenate-respiring Sulfurospirillum barnesii in polyacrylamide gels was investigated to allow the treatment of selenate contaminated (790¿µg Se¿×¿L-1) synthetic wastewater with a high molar excess of nitrate (1,500 times) and

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Bifidobacterium longum P77 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum P72 and Their Mix—Live or Heat-Treated—Mitigate Sleeplessness and Depression in Mice: Involvement of Serotonergic and GABAergic Systems

open access: yesCells
Sleeplessness (insomnia) is a significant symptom associated with stress-induced depression/anxiety. In the present study, we selected Bifidobacterium longum P77, which increased serotonin production in corticosterone-stimulated SH-SY5Y cells, from the ...

EFFECTS OF VITAMINSC AND E ON STRESS-INDUCED LIPID PEROXIDATION AND ANTIOXIDANT-ENZYME ACTIVITIES IN RATS

open access: yesZagazig Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2000
Immobilization stress induces the formation of reactive oxygen species and leads to the oxidative stress injury in various tissues. The present study was carried out in order to assess the effect of immobilization stress on the level of lipid peroxides ...

The muscle proteome reflects changes in mitochondrial function, cellular stress and proteolysis after 14 days of unilateral lower limb immobilization in active young men.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Skeletal muscle unloading due to joint immobilization induces muscle atrophy, which has primarily been attributed to reductions in protein synthesis in humans.

The dynamics of Sert, Htr4a, and Bdnf genes expression in the blood of rats under chronic stress exposure

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Естественные науки, 2022
In this article, we discuss the expression levels of Sert, Htr4a, and Bdnf genes in the blood of Wistar rats exposed to the following types of chronic stresses for 270 days: swimming with a load and immobilization, as well as the combination of these two
