Reproductive immune microenvironment

Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2022
About 10 %-12 % of couples in the world suffer from infertility, and immunological factors are being paid more and more attention. Attempts to induce peripheral immune tolerance in pregnant women by injecting husband cells have been widely promoted, but ultimately proved unsuccessful.

Immune Microenvironment in Gallbladder Adenocarcinomas

Applied Immunohistochemistry & Molecular Morphology, 2021
Programmed death-1 (PD1) expression has not been reported in gallbladder adenocarcinoma. In this study we examined PD1 expression in gallbladder cancer to explore the correlation between PD1 expression and the clinicopathologic parameters. We found that 98% (46/47) cases expressed programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) with 85% cases being PD-L1 3+.

The peritumor microenvironment: physics and immunity

Trends in Cancer, 2023
Cancer initiation and progression drastically alter the microenvironment at the interface between healthy and malignant tissue. This site, termed the peritumor, bears unique physical and immune attributes that together further promote tumor progression through interconnected mechanical signaling and immune activity.

The immune microenvironment of colorectal cancer

Nature Reviews Cancer
Colorectal cancer (CRC) progression depends on the close interaction of tumour cells and the tumour microenvironment (TME). Although the TME contributes to poor therapy responses and immune evasion, immune cells within the TME can be therapeutically leveraged, as exemplified by immune checkpoint blockade (ICB).

Gut immune microenvironment and autoimmunity

International Immunopharmacology, 2023
A variety of immune cells or tissues are present in the gut to form the gut immune microenvironment by interacting with gut microbiota, and to maintain the gut immune homeostasis. Accumulating evidence indicated that gut microbiota dysbiosis might break the homeostasis of the gut immune microenvironment, which was associated with many health problems ...

Tumor Microenvironment and the Immune Response

Surgical Oncology Clinics of North America, 2007
Without clinical information, accurate follow-up, high-quality sample collection, and preservation, scientific conclusions are only based on theoretical assumptions that are unlikely to lead to clinical breakthroughs. In this article we discuss our understanding of the relationship between cancer cells and the host immune response.

Immune checkpoints in the tumor microenvironment

Seminars in Cancer Biology, 2020
Interactions between immune checkpoints (ICs) and their ligands negatively regulate T cell activation pathways involved in physiological immune responses against specific antigens. ICs and their ligands are frequently upregulated in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of various malignancies, and they represent significant barriers for induction of ...
