The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Serum antibodies from Parkinson's disease patients react with neuronal membrane proteins from a mouse dopaminergic cell line and affect its dopamine expression

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2006
Evidence exists suggesting that the immune system may contribute to the severity of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD). The data presented here demonstrates that antibodies in the sera of patients with IPD have increased binding affinity to ...

The Final (Oral Ebola) Vaccine Trial on Captive Chimpanzees? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Could new oral vaccine technologies protect endangered wildlife against a rising tide of infectious disease? We used captive chimpanzees to test oral delivery of a rabies virus (RABV) vectored vaccine against Ebola virus (EBOV), a major threat to wild ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Screening of Anti HLA Class One Antibodies in the Sera of Pregnant Women and the Variation of Its Titer During Pregnancy

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 2001
Determination of HLA antigens has an extensive application in paternity,    Histocompatibility testing, and disease suseptibility identification. A vast    arrey of different HLA antisera are required for HLA typing. Such antisera can    be obtained from

Development of an indirect ELISA for detecting humoral immunodominant proteins of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae which can discriminate between inactivated bacterin-induced hyperimmune sera and convalescent sera

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2019
Background Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyopneumoniae) is the primary pathogen of porcine enzootic pneumonia, which has been associated with economic losses due to reduced daily weight gain and feed efficiency.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Flocculation reactions with hemolytic immune sera.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1924
As mentioned in the proceedings of the last meeting of this Society, the hemolytic action of the immune sera prepared by injection of alcoholic blood extracts is inhibited by the addition of these same extracts. In analogy to the Forssman heterogenetic antibodies (Sordelli and Pico, Sachs and Guth) these sera were found to give a very distinct ...

Idiotypes of anti-Ia antibodies. I. Expression of the 14-4-4S idiotype in humoral immune responses. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The idiotype of a mouse monoclonal anti-I-E antibody, 14-4-4S, has been studied using a heterologous anti-idiotypic reagent. This antibody recognizes Ia.
