Immunodominance: intramolecular competition between T cell epitopes

The Journal of Immunology, 1991
Abstract We have used an approach of linking previously characterized T cell epitopes into immunologically complex synthetic peptides in order to investigate the mechanism of immunodominance. Our results show that first, cI12-26 is highly dominant following immunization with the lambda repressor (cI) protein, but is a minor epitope in ...

Immunodominant minor histocompatibility antigens: the major ones

Immunology Today, 1998
Abstract Minor histocompatibility antigens (MiHAs) are extremely numerous—possibly up to 720 in mice—and have been regarded as an `immunogenetic nightmare' in transplantation. Here, Claude Perreault, Denis Roy and Claudette Fortin summarize evidence showing that most anti-MiHA T-cell responses are oligoclonal, being restricted to several dominant ...

Immunodominance and Immunodomination: Critical Factors in Developing Effective CD8+ T‐Cell–Based Cancer Vaccines

2006
The focusing of cellular immunity toward one, or just a few, antigenic determinant, even during immune responses to complex microorganisms or antigens, is known as immunodominance. Although described in many systems, the mechanisms of determinant immunodominance are only just beginning to be appreciated, especially in relation to the interplay between ...

Carbohydrate-associated Immunodominant Epitope(s) of CA215

Immunological Investigations, 2011
RP215 monoclonal antibody (Mab) was initially generated against OC-3-VGH ovarian cancer cells and was shown to react with a cancer-associated carbohydrate epitope in glycoproteins designated as CA215. Additional five high affinity Mabs, designated as RCA-10, -100, -104, -110 and -111, respectively, were generated by using affinity-purified CA215 as the

Intestinal digestive resistance of immunodominant gliadin peptides

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 2002
Two recently identified immunodominant epitopes from α-gliadin account for most of the stimulatory activity of dietary gluten on intestinal and peripheral T lymphocytes in patients with celiac sprue. The proteolytic kinetics of peptides containing these epitopes were analyzed in vitro using soluble proteases from bovine and porcine pancreas and brush ...

Polymorphism in the Dirofilaria immitis immunodominant antigen gene

Journal of Helminthology, 1999
Dg2, a gene encoding a 34 kDa immunodominant antigen of Dirofilaria immitis was cloned and demonstrated to be specifically expressed in the larval stage. In this study, a newly constructed genomic DNA library was screened by hybridization with Dg2.

Immunodominance Across HLA Polymorphism: Implications for Cancer Immunotherapy

Journal of Immunotherapy, 1998
Recent advances in the understanding of the mechanisms leading to tumor recognition by the immune system have shown that, at least in the case of human melanoma, the majority of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) identified in association with in vivo tumor regression after interleukin-2 therapy recognize nonmutated molecules expressed by most melanoma ...

Immunodominant IgE Epitopes of Der p 5 Allergen

Protein & Peptide Letters, 2018
Der p 5 is an important allergen of Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus that plays a key role in allergic airway diseases. Its three dimensional structure (PDB 3MQ1) consists of three anti-parallel α-helices arranged in a helical bundle. Aggregation of Der p5 can modulate its allergenicity.

SPATIOTEMPORAL DYNAMICS IN A MODEL OF IMMUNODOMINANCE

Journal of Biological Systems
Adapative immune response to viral infection is mediated by cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs) eliminating infected cells and virus-neutralizing antibodies produced by B-lymphocytes. Different epitopes, that is, some parts of antigens, stimulate clonal expansion of the corresponding lymphocytes.
