Features of Isotypic Structure of Virus-Specific Systemic Humoral Immune Response in Adult Volunteers Immunized with Inactivated Monovalent Subunit Vaccines against Pandemic Influenza A(H1N1)pdm09

open access: yesЭпидемиология и вакцинопрофилактика, 2016
An isotypic structure of system antibody response to influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 was analyzed in adult volunteers vaccinated with two inactivated monovalent subunit vaccines against pandemic influenza.

Blimp-1-dependent and -independent natural antibody production by B-1 and B-1-derived plasma cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Natural antibodies contribute to tissue homeostasis and protect against infections. They are secreted constitutively without external antigenic stimulation.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Reviving lost binding sites: Exploring calcium‐binding site transitions between human and murine CD23

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2021
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a central regulatory and triggering molecule of allergic immune responses. IgE’s interaction with CD23 modulates both IgE production and functional activities.CD23 is a noncanonical immunoglobulin receptor, unrelated to ...

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Local hepatic immune response in rats during primary infection with Fasciola hepatica

open access: yesParasite, 2000
The distribution of lymphocyte subpopulations (TCD4+ , TCD8+, TCD43+ and Ig+ cells), macrophages and eosinophils were analysed in the inflammatory infiltrates associated with hepatic lesions and in hepatic lymph nodes (HLN) from rats experimentally ...

Antibodies in falciparum malaria: what matters most, quantity or quality?

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1992
In view of the recent demonstration that antibodies that are protective agains Plasmodium falciparum malaria may act in collaboration with blood monocytes, we have investigated the isotype content of sera from individuals with defined clinical states of ...

The Characterization of Disease Severity Associated IgG Subclasses Response in COVID-19 Patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Increasing evidence suggests that dysregulated immune responses are associated with the clinical outcome of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Nucleocapsid protein (NP)-, spike (S)-, receptor binding domain (RBD)- specific immunoglobulin (Ig) isotypes,

IgG anti-apolipoprotein A-1 antibodies in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus are associated with disease activity and corticosteroid therapy: an observational study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
IgG anti-apolipoprotein A-1 (IgG anti-apoA-1) antibodies are present in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and may link inflammatory disease activity and the increased risk of developing atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in ...

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles
