The reported germline repertoire of human immunoglobulin kappa chain genes is relatively complete and accurate

Immunogenetics, 2008
We describe a bioinformatic analysis of germline and rearranged immunoglobulin kappa chain (IGK) gene sequences, performed in order to assess the completeness and reliability of the reported IGK repertoire. In contrast to the reported heavy-chain gene repertoire, which includes many dubious sequences, only five IGK variable gene (IGKV) alleles appear ...

Differential Expression of Immunoglobulin Kappa Chain Constant Region in Human Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Journal of Surgical Research, 2005
A number of the research into the pathogenesis of the abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) have focused on the alteration of gene expression. The current technique for elucidating alterations of gene expression has a setback in that many artifact complementary DNA (cDNA) products present abnormal polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification.

Evolution of the rabbit immunoglobulin kappa chain genes.

Immunogenetics, 1991
We have analyzed the organization and the structure of rabbit kappa chain genes encoding b allotypes in wild rabbits. The kappa 1 gene of the b95 allotype was cloned and its structure determined. The J region is composed of five segments but only J2 appears to be functional and is identical to the J2 segment of the b4 allotype.

Molecular Defects in a Human Immunoglobulin κ Chain Deficiency

Science, 1985
The molecular basis of a human immunoglobulin deficiency characterized by the complete absence of κ chains has been investigated by nucleotide sequence analyses of a patient's κ constant region (C κ ) genes. Both of his C κ genes had a single point mutation, resulting in the loss of the ...

Structural and evolutionary comparisons of four alleles of the mouse immunoglobulin kappa chain gene,Igk-VSer

Immunogenetics, 1989
The mouse Igk-VSer gene encodes an immunoglobulin kappa light chain variable region which gives rise to two phenotypic polymorphisms of mouse kappa chains. The nucleotide sequences of coding and flanking regions of the Igk-VSerc and Igk-VSerd alleles found in recently inbred strains of wild mice are compared with those of the Igk-VSera and Igk-VSerb ...

Mouse Immunoglobulin Kappa Chain MPC 11: Extra Amino-Terminal Residues

Science, 1973
The kappa chain from the immunoglobulin of myeloma tumor MPC 11 has 12 extra residues at its amino terminus, the first six of which are identical to the residues at positions 1 to 6 of typical mouse kappa chains and at positions 13 to 18 of MPC 11 itself.

Chromosomal Translocation Involving the Immunoglobulin Kappa-Chain and Heavy-Chain Loci in a Child with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

New England Journal of Medicine, 1983
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is usually a monoclonal B-cell neoplasm that occurs almost exclusively in middle-aged and elderly adults. We observed a rapidly progressive case of the disease in a 10-year-old girl. The leukemic cells bore surface IgM and IgD immunoglobulins of the kappa-light-chain type.

Relative diagnostic value of cerebrospinal fluid kappa chains in MS

Neurology, 1989
We used receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis to determine the relative performance of different CSF IgG parameters as diagnostic markers for multiple sclerosis. We quantitated CSF and serum IgG and albumin to determine an IgG albumin ratio, IgG index, Tourtellotte's synthesis rate, and Schuller's formula; CSF free kappa light chains ...

Demonstration of the clonality and specificity of an auto-antibody response to a suppressed immunoglobulin allotype of the rabbit kappa chain b locus

Immunology Letters, 1985
A regulatory idiotypic network is proposed to control allotype expression in normal rabbits. We have used suppression of the kappa chain b6 allotype in an attempt to restrict the number of regulatory idiotypes involved in an induced auto anti-allotype response.

Monoclonal antibodies against common and Igk-1a allotypic determinants of rat immunoglobulin kappa chain constant domain

Immunology Letters, 1985
SJL/J mice were immunized with polyclonal rat Ig light chains of two allotypes and immune spleen cells were fused with P3-Ag8.653 myeloma cells. 17 cell populations producing antirat Ig AB were cloned. Four clones, 1G9, L3E8, L2B2 and L2C5 have been characterized in detail. All MABs are of the IgG1, kappa isotype.
