Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

CSF Free Light Chains as a Marker of Intrathecal Immunoglobulin Synthesis in Multiple Sclerosis: A Blood-CSF Barrier Related Evaluation in a Large Cohort

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Objectives: The importance of immunoglobulin G (IgG) oligoclonal bands (OCB) in the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) was reaffirmed again in the recently revised MS diagnostic criteria.

Recent duplication and germ-line diversification of rat immunoglobulin kappa chain gene joining segments. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1982
Sequence determination of the joining segment gene (J) cluster in the kappa chain (J kappa) in the embryonic context demonstrates that rat genome contains seven J kappa gene segments that expanded from an ancestral cluster of five J kappa genes. The rat J segments are separated by about 300 base pairs (bp) and are flanked 5' by the presumed variable ...

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Functions as Multifunctional Architects of the Tumor Stroma and Represent Emerging Therapeutic Vulnerabilities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the predominant stromal components within the tumor microenvironment (TME), playing multifaceted roles in cancer progression through dynamic interactions with neoplastic and immune cells. Emerging evidence has revealed remarkable heterogeneity and plasticity of CAFs, which originate from diverse ...

Protection and Delivery of Phytochemicals from Passive Encapsulation to Guaranteed Self‐Assembly Induced by Amyloid Template for Chronic Disease Prevention via Modulating Microbial‐Host Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rising incidence of chronic diseases globally has drawn widespread attention to phytochemicals, which exert targeted preventive and alleviating effect by modulating gut microbiota; thus, a potential strategy for precision nutritional interventions is offered.

Chaperone‐Mediated Autophagic Degradation of USP9X in Macrophages Exacerbates Postmyocardial Infarction Inflammation and Cardiac Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that inflammatory stimuli induce the acetylation‐triggered, chaperone‐mediated autophagic degradation of ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9 X‐linked (USP9X) in macrophages. USP9X acts as a macrophage “inflammation switch” after myocardial infarction (MI). USP9X loss destabilizes tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated factor (TRAF)

Astrocytes express aberrant immunoglobulins as putative gatekeeper of astrocytes to neuronal progenitor conversion

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
Using multi-omics analyses including RNAseq, RT-PCR, RACE-PCR, and shotgun proteomic with enrichment strategies, we demonstrated that newborn rat astrocytes produce neural immunoglobulin constant and variable heavy chains as well as light chains. However,

Double recombination of a single immunoglobulin kappa-chain allele: implications for the mechanism of rearrangement. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1985
DNA fragments containing immunoglobulin kappa-chain sequences from two different plasmacytomas (PC 3609 and PC 7043) were found by blot-hybridization studies to be dissociated from germ-line sequences on both the 3' and 5' ends. These fragments were cloned, sequenced, and found to contain the structural features of a product of two recombination events.

Decoding the Cardiac Immune Microenvironment and Fibroblast Crosstalk in Radiotherapy Combined with Immunotherapy‐Induced Cardiac Fibrosis Based on Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights that radioimmunotherapy drives crosstalk between fibroblasts and immune cells (especially macrophages) in the cardiac microenvironment, with IL‐6 as the key mediator, and tocilizumab alleviates cardiac fibrosis by targeting this interplay.
