Value of antibodies to free light chains in immunoperoxidase studies of renal biopsies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Because immunoglobulin abnormalities may affect the kidney, investigation of renal biopsies requires immunohistological study of light chains. A problem is that most antibodies to light chains react with whole immunoglobulins as well as free light chains,

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Immunoglobulin free light chains are increased in hypersensitivity pneumonitis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BACKGROUND: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a devastating lung disorder of unknown aetiology, and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), a disease provoked by an immunopathologic reaction to inhaled antigens, are two common interstitial lung ...

Immunoglobulin free light chains in clinically isolated syndrome with conversion to multuiple sclerosis

open access: yes, 2015
This data file represents the concentrations of immunoglobulin free light chains in 4 groups of patients: 1) CIS-MS (clinically isolated syndrome with conversion to multiple sclerosis during 2 years) 2) CIS-nonMS (clinically isolated syndrome without ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

Concordance rate between oligoclonal bands and the Kappa index in patients with suspected multiple sclerosis (MS)

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria
Background Oligoclonal bands (OCBs) and Kappa free light chains (FLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) are sensitive markers of intrathecal immunoglobulin (Ig)G synthesis in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Spatiotemporal Drug Delivery via a Neonatal Spinal Cord ECM Hydrogel for Biomimetic Microenvironment Remodeling After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A biomimetic hydrogel derived from neonatal spinal cord ECM (DNSCM) delivers LAMB2 protein and ISP peptide to remodel the inhibitory injury microenvironment. The system sustains drug release, upregulates pro‐regenerative LAMB2, downregulates inhibitory CSPG, and promotes axonal regeneration.

Immunoglobulin Free Light Chains in the Pathogenesis of Lung Disorders

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2017
Inflammation is an important component of numerous cancers and chronic diseases and many inflammatory mediators have been shown to have potential prognostic roles. Tumor-infiltrating mast cells can promote tumor growth and angiogenesis, but the mechanism

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...
