Identification of novel inhibitors against hantaviruses through 2D fingerprinting and molecular modeling approaches

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
With the immensely growing outbreaks of hantavirus with still no effective treatment available, there is an urgent need of exploring new computational approaches which will target potential virulent proteins that will eventually reduce its growth.

Meningeal lymphatics and their role in CNS disorder treatment: moving past misconceptions

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
The central nervous system (CNS) was previously thought to lack lymphatics and shielded from the free diffusion of molecular and cellular components by the blood–brain barrier (BBB) and the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCB).

Immunotherapeutics for breast cancer

open access: yes, 2013
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: We review recent advances leading to a new understanding of immunology of breast cancer with its potential clinical applications. RECENT FINDINGS: With the exception of antibody-based HER2 targeting, immunotherapy in breast cancer has ...

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Reproducibility of compartmental modelling of 18F-FDG PET/CT to evaluate lung inflammation

open access: yesEJNMMI Physics, 2019
Introduction Compartmental modelling is an established method of quantifying 18F-FDG uptake; however, only recently has it been applied to evaluate pulmonary inflammation. Implementation of compartmental models remains challenging in the lung, partly due

Host-parasite interactions during Plasmodium infection: Implications for immunotherapies

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Malaria is a global infectious disease that remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the developing world. Multiple environmental and host and parasite factors govern the clinical outcomes of malaria.

Nanomedicine-mediated alteration of the pharmacokinetic profile of small molecule cancer immunotherapeutics

open access: yes, 2020
The advent of immunotherapy is a game changer in cancer therapy with monoclonal antibody- and T cell-based therapeutics being the current flagships. Small molecule immunotherapeutics might offer advantages over the biological drugs in terms of complexity,

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
