Ovarian morphometric characterization and in vitro maturation of oocytes obtained from buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) ovaries – partial results

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Buffalo ovaries were collected from a slaughterhouse (Frigol, Brazil) and transported to the laboratory in saline solution at 36º C. The ovaries were dissected to realize the evaluations (weight, length, width and height of the ovary; corpus luteum ...

Human TIMP1 Is a Growth Factor That Improves Oocyte Developmental Competence

open access: yesBioTech, 2023
Oocyte developmental competence is the ability of a mature oocyte to be fertilized and subsequently support embryonic development. Such competence is gained during folliculogenesis and is facilitated by the bidirectional communication into a compacted ...

Enhancement of developmental capacity of meiotically inhibited bovine oocytes by retinoic acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Although high vitamin A may be teratogenic to the embryo, retinol has been shown to support oocyte developmental potential in vivo. Similarly, addition of retinol metabolite 9-cis-retinoic acid to in-vitro cultured oocytes could promote ...

The role of Microenvironment in tumorigenesis. Focus on dendritic cells in human papillomavirus E6, E7-transformed keratinocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The inception of tumor microenvironment (TME), a complex and dynamic system constituted by different types of cells engaged by tumor and extracellular matrix surrounding cancer cells, is a way for them to elude the immune surveillance.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

EFFECT OF CYSTEAMINE ON THE RATE OF IN VITRO MATURATION OF OOCYTES IN TWO MEDIA [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2006
Rate of in vitro maturation of oocytes is one of the challenges of assisted reproductive techniques. In this study we investigated the effects of supplementation of cysteamine on the rate of in vitro maturation of oocytes in two different media. Germinal

Quercetin Efficacy on in vitro Maturation of Porcine Oocytes

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
The present study proposed to examine the effects of a polyphenol (quercetin) on in vitro maturated parameters. Quercetin it has been extensively studied by researchers on animals over the 35 years.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Human oocyte capacitation culture: Essential step toward hormone‐free assisted reproductive technology

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology
Background In vitro oocyte maturation (IVM) is not a novel concept; however, its wide‐scale practice has been limited because of the lower clinical outcomes compared to conventional assisted reproductive technologies.

Expression of genes associated with BMP signaling pathway in porcine oocytes before and after IVM – a microarray approach

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2017
Background The full maturational capability of mammalian oocytes is accompanied by nuclear and cytoplasmic modifications, which are associated with proliferation and differentiation of surrounding cumulus cells.
