Structural modification of functionalized carbazoles: from Z′ = 1 to Z′ = 6
The crystal structure of a 2,3,9,9a‐tetrahydro‐1H‐carbazole in the space group Ia is reported, showing Z′ = 6 and approximate Fdd2 symmetry, and compared to the low Z′ crystal structures of two closely related congeners.Crystal structures with asymmetric units comprising large numbers of molecules (Z′ > 4) remain rare.

Is the endophyte‐based plant protection against aphids mediated by changes in the insect microbiome?
We showed that the fungal endophyte Epichloë strain AR37 increased the plant resistance against aphids via the production of indole diterpene alkaloids. The reduction in aphid performance was not associated with changes in abundance/composition/diversity of the insect's bacterial microbiota, but additional endophyte effects on this microbiota cannot be

A new natural auaternary indole slkaloid isolated from Tabernaemontana laeta Mart. (Apocynaceae)
A new natural quaternary alkaloid, Nb-methylvoachalotine (1), was obtained from the root bark of Tabernaemontana laeta together with three dimeric indole alkaloids, conodurine (2), voacamine (3) and tabernamine (4), and the monomeric indole alkaloids 19S-

PobZIP8 from Pleurotus ostreatus enhances heat stress tolerance while negatively regulating fruiting body development, providing a key target for genetic improvement of edible fungi. ABSTRACT Pleurotus ostreatus is a globally cultivated edible and medicinal fungus, but its growth and yield are significantly affected by heat stress during cultivation ...

Root extracts of Physalis alkekengi were examined for activity against multidrug‐resistant (MDR) Escherichia coli. The ethanolic extract suppressed bacterial growth, lowered biofilm formation by ~63%, and markedly reduced expression of luxS and fimH. Findings highlight P.

Benzoxazinoid‐mediated microbiome feedbacks enhance Arabidopsis growth and defence
Summary Plants modulate their surrounding microbiome via root exudates and such conditioned soil microbiomes feed back on the performance of the next generation of plants. How plants perceive altered soil microbiomes and modulate their performance in response to such microbiome feedbacks, however, remains largely unknown.

Flexible Synthetic Approaches to Monoterpene Indole Alkaloids
Preliminary model studies have demonstrated that our novel synthetic approaches to the Iboga- and seco-Yohimbine alkaloid families represent viable concepts for flexible strategies towards these alkaloid classes.
