Glyphosate residues in soil alter herbivore‐induced plant volatiles and affect predatory insect behaviour

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Herbicide residues in soil disrupt plant–insect signalling, reducing the effectiveness of biological pest control. Abstract Plants under herbivore attack emit distinct blends of herbivore‐induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) which serve as signalling cues for predatory insects.

Comprehensive Chemical and Biological Assessment of Orobanche racemosa Extracts Using Chromatographic, In Vitro, In Silico, and Cell‐Based Techniques

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2026.
Orobanche racemosa can be considered an effective source of natural bioactive agents in designing functional applications. The growing interest in natural product research as a safer and sustainable alternative to synthetic drugs has triggered this study, which evaluates the chemical profile and biological activity of Orobanche racemosa extracts.

Systematic prioritization of candidate genes in camptothecin biosynthesis using multi‐omics and deep learning

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Camptothecin (CPT), a plant‐derived monoterpene indole alkaloid first identified in Camptotheca acuminata, is a drug precursor widely used for cancer chemotherapeutics. However, the full set of genes responsible for CPT biosynthesis remains unclear, hindering efforts to elucidate the complete pathway or establish biosynthetic production of CPT

Mitotic Block of Human Blood Cells by Vinca herbacea, Catharanthus roseus and Colchicine Alkaloids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Plants and By-products, 2018
Catharanthus roseus (L.) G.Don is a plant which produces anticancer and anti-mitotic indole alkaloids. Colchicine is an anti-mitotic drug. Anti-mitotic effects of Vinca herbacea Waldst. & Kit. indole alkaloids is unknown.

Integrative multi-omics reveals dark-induced coordinated interactions between alternative splicing and transport in shaping root alkaloid secretion

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Dark stress can alter carbon allocation patterns, which may affect root‑specific metabolites and their release into the rhizosphere of medicinal plants. However, how prolonged darkness reshapes metabolism remains poorly understood.

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 45, 13 August 2026.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

VMAT‐DAT‐Dopamine Regulatory System Involved in the Protective Effect of 3‐n‐Butylphthalide Against Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
Proposed mechanism underlying NBP protection against ischemic stroke. NBP exerts neuroprotection against cerebral ischemic injury partially via upregulating the VMAT‐DAT‐dopamine cycle to improve synaptic dysfunction. Activation of D1R and adenosine A1Rs participates in the relevant downstream signalling cascades.

Optimizing the Anti‐Inflammatory Efficacy of Pakistani Spice Blends: A Farm‐to‐Fork Analysis of Phytochemical Synergy and Processing Stability

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
This review aims to evaluate the anti‐inflammatory potential of these spice blends, emphasizing their synergistic mechanisms, and to investigate how cultivation practices, post‐harvest processing, and environmental stressors shape their medicinal efficacy. By addressing this gap, it seeks to provide a comprehensive framework for integrating traditional
