Inosine as a Tool to Understand and Treat Central Nervous System Disorders: A Neglected Actor?
Since the 1970s, when ATP was identified as a co-transmitter in sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves, it and its active metabolite adenosine have been considered relevant signaling molecules in biological and pathological processes in the central ...

Our project aims to reveal the cryoprotective effect of flammulina velutipes polysaccharide (FVP) on the quality characteristics in freeze‐thawed cultured large yellow croaker. The differences were compared with conventional commercial cryoprotectant in combination with muscle quality, body color, and flavor.

A purinergic call to arms from dying brown adipocytes
Brown adipocytes react to temperature and nutritional challenges by ramping up their metabolism and generating heat. This adaptation to changes in the environment is crucial for defending organismal homeostasis, but is impaired in obesity and ...

Inosine metabolism in the rat [PDF]
1. Uptake and subsequent metabolism of purine and ribose moieties was monitored after intravenous administration of doubly labelled inosine. 2. More than 95% was cleared from the plasma within 5 min, and 99% within 20 min. 3. Approx. 50% of the 160 mumol total was rapidly incorporated into liver and kidney.

Purine Nucleoside Phosphorylase (PNP) is an enzyme involved in biosynthetic pathway of purine nucleosides. Purine nucleoside phosphorylase catalyzes the cleavage of the glycosidic bond of ribo- or deoxyribonucleosides to form the purine base and ...

New insights into the biological role of mammalian ADARs; the RNA editing proteins [PDF]
The ADAR proteins deaminate adenosine to inosine in double-stranded RNA which is one of the most abundant modifications present in mammalian RNA.

Role of RNA modifications in carcinogenesis and carcinogen damage response
Abstract The field of epitranscriptomics encompasses the study of post‐transcriptional RNA modifications and their regulatory enzymes. Among the numerous RNA modifications, N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) has been identified as the most common internal modification of messenger RNA (mRNA).

Inosine Substitutions in RNA Activate Latent G-Quadruplexes.
It is well-accepted that gene expression is heavily influenced by RNA structure. For instance, stem-loops and G-quadruplexes (rG4s) are dynamic motifs in mRNAs that influence gene expression.
