Inhibitors of Inositol Monophosphatase [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition, 1999
Inositol monophosphatase (IMPase) catalyses the hydrolysis of myo-inositol monophosphates to myo-inositol, which is required in the phosphatidyl inositol cell signalling pathway. Here the enzyme structure, mechanism and inhibition of IMPase are reviewed. Lithium, an effective therapy for manic depression, is an uncompetitive inhibitor.

From Myo-inositol to D-chiro-inositol molecular pathways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
OBJECTIVE: Inositol is a carbocyclic sugar polyalcohol. By epimerization of its hydroxyl groups, nine possible stereoisomers can be generated, two of major physiological and clinical relevance: Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol.

Inositol Pyrophosphate Pathways and Mechanisms: What Can We Learn from Plants?

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The ability of an organism to maintain homeostasis in changing conditions is crucial for growth and survival. Eukaryotes have developed complex signaling pathways to adapt to a readily changing environment, including the inositol phosphate (InsP ...

Scientific Opinion on the safety and efficacy of inositol as a feed additive for fish, dogs and cats [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2014
Inositol is an essential micronutrient for salmon, carp, tilapia and shrimps, particularly juveniles. This conclusion is extended to all fish and crustaceans.

Myo-Inositol as a Key Supporter of Fertility and Physiological Gestation

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2021
Pregnancy is a complex process, featuring several necessary changes in women’s physiology. Most women undergo healthy pregnancies; even so, several women experience reduced fertility or pathologies related to the pregnancy. In the last years, researchers

Mammalian inositol polyphosphate multikinase synthesizes inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate and an inositol pyrophosphate [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2001
Using a consensus sequence in inositol phosphate kinase, we have identified and cloned a 44-kDa mammalian inositol phosphate kinase with broader catalytic capacities than any other member of the family and which we designate mammalian inositol phosphate multikinase (mIPMK).

Decavanadate displaces inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) from its receptor and inhibits IP3 induced Ca2+ release in permeabilized pancreatic acinar cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) induced Ca2+ release in digitonin permeabilized rat pancreatic acinar cells is specifically inhibited by decavanadate.

A genome-wide dsRNA library screen for Drosophila genes that regulate the GBP/phospholipase C signaling axis that links inflammation to aging

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2018
Objective Invertebrates are productive models for understanding how inflammation, metabolism and aging are intertwined. We have deployed a dsRNA library screen to search for genes in Drosophila melanogaster—and hence identify human orthologs—that encode ...

Effect of phytase supplementation on plasma and organ myo-inositol content and erythrocyte inositol phosphates as pertaining to breast meat quality issues in chickens

open access: yesJournal of Applied Animal Nutrition, 2022
‘Woody breast’ (WB) and ‘white striping’ in broiler meat is a global problem. With unknown etiology, WB negatively impacts bird health, welfare and is a significant economic burden to the poultry industry.

Inositol and gradient phytase supplementation in broiler diets during a 6-week production period: 2. Effects on phytate degradation and inositol liberation in gizzard and ileal digesta contents1

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
An experiment was conducted to evaluate effects of dietary phytase and inositol supplementation on phytate degradation in gizzard and ileal digesta contents of broilers from 1 to 43 d of age.
