Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors in cardiomyocyte physiology and disease

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2022
The contraction of cardiac muscle underlying the pumping action of the heart is mediated by the process of excitation-contraction coupling (ECC). While triggered by Ca 2+ entry across the sarcolemma during the action potential, it is the release of Ca 2+

Are there subtypes of the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor? [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1990
We have compared the properties of the [3H]Ins(1,4,5)P3-binding sites from a number of tissues in an attempt to determine if heterogeneity exists within the Ins(1,4,5)P3-receptor family. The binding of Ins(1,4,5)P3 was characterized in detail by using membranes prepared from human uterine smooth muscle and bovine adrenal cortex.

Mitochondrial respiration and Ca2+ waves are linked during fertilization and meiosis completion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Fertilization increases both cytosolic Ca(2+) concentration and oxygen consumption in the egg but the relationship between these two phenomena remains largely obscure.

Porcine Circovirus Type 2 Activates CaMMKβ to Initiate Autophagy in PK-15 Cells by Increasing Cytosolic Calcium

open access: yesViruses, 2016
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) induces autophagy via the 5′ adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)/tuberous sclerosis complex 2 (TSC2)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway in pig ...

Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate and Calcium Regulate the Calcium Channel Function of the Hepatic Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate Receptor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1997
The regulation of the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor in liver was analyzed using a novel superfusion method. Hepatic microsomes were loaded with 45Ca2+, and superfused at high flow rates to provide precise control over IP3 and Ca2+ concentrations ([Ca2+]) and to isolate 45Ca2+ release from reuptake.

MiR-135a-5p Is Critical for Exercise-Induced Adult Neurogenesis

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2019
Summary: Physical exercise stimulates adult hippocampal neurogenesis and is considered a relevant strategy for preventing age-related cognitive decline in humans. The underlying mechanisms remains controversial.

The Clustering of Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate (IP3) Receptors Is Triggered by IP3 Binding and Facilitated by Depletion of the Ca2+ Store

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2008
The inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (IP3Rs) form clusters following agonist stimulation, but its mechanism remains controversial. In this study, we visualized the clustering of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-tagged type 3 IP3R (GFP-IP3R3) in ...

Muscarinic acetylcholine receptor-dependent and NMDA receptor-dependent LTP and LTD share the common AMPAR trafficking pathway

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: The forebrain cholinergic system promotes higher brain function in part by signaling through the M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR). Long-term potentiation (LTP) and long-term depression (LTD) of excitatory synaptic transmission in the

Presynaptically localized cyclic GMP-dependent protein kinase 1 is a key determinant of spinal synaptic potentiation and pain hypersensitivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Synaptic long-term potentiation (LTP) at spinal neurons directly communicating pain-specific inputs from the periphery to the brain has been proposed to serve as a trigger for pain hypersensitivity in pathological states.

Mechanism and function of drosophila capa GPCR: a desiccation stress-responsive receptor with functional homology to human neuromedinU receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The capa peptide receptor, capaR (CG14575), is a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) for the D. melanogaster capa neuropeptides, Drm-capa-1 and -2 (capa-1 and -2). To date, the capa peptide family constitutes the only known nitridergic peptides in insects,
