IGF-II promotes neuroprotection and neuroplasticity recovery in a long-lasting model of oxidative damage induced by glucocorticoids

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2017
Insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) is a naturally occurring hormone that exerts neurotrophic and neuroprotective properties in a wide range of neurodegenerative diseases and ageing.

Circulating Insulin-Like Growth Factor II and Colorectal Adenomas* [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2000
Abstract Circulating insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) and IGF-binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) may be risk factors for the development of colorectal cancer. On the other hand, IGF-II and IGFBP-2 are overexpressed in colorectal carcinomas.

Radioimmunoassay for Insulin-Like Growth Factor II(IGF-II).

open access: yesEndocrinologia Japonica, 1990
Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) levels in human plasma were measured in physiological and pathological conditions by radioimmunoassay (RIA) with biosynthetic IGF-II. This RIA was specific for IGF-II and cross-reactivity with IGF-I was 1%. The sensitivity was 15 pg/tube with 50% displacement at 50 pg/tube.

The Role of Insulin, IGF-1 and PRAS40 in the Processes of Oncogenesis in Women with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Endometrial Cancer

open access: yesGalician Medical Journal, 2019
The objective of the research was to investigate the content of insulin, insulin-like growth factor-1 and phosphorylated protein kinase proline-rich Akt substrate of 40kDa and to determine their role in the activation of oncogenesis processes in women ...

Transcriptional regulation of the IGF signaling pathway by amino acids and insulin-like growth factors during myogenesis in Atlantic salmon. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
The insulin-like growth factor signalling pathway is an important regulator of skeletal muscle growth. We examined the mRNA expression of components of the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signalling pathway as well as Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2 ...

Expression of a type I insulin-like growth factor receptor with low affinity for insulin-like growth factor II [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1992
We investigated the binding properties of the type I insulin-like growth factor (IGF) receptor expressed in NIH-3T3 fibroblasts transfected with a human type I receptor cDNA. Cell surface receptors bound IGF-I with KD = 1 nM as predicted. Although recent studies have suggested that IGF-I and IGF-II bind to type I receptors with near-equal affinity, the

Insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-II- mediated fibrosis in pathogenic lung conditions.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Type 2 insulin-like growth factor (IGF-II) levels are increased in fibrosing lung diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and scleroderma/systemic sclerosis-associated pulmonary fibrosis (SSc). Our goal was to investigate the contribution of
