An Organ‐on‐Chip Platform for Strain‐Controlled, Tissue‐Specific Compression of Cartilage and Mineralized Osteochondral Interface to Study Mechanical Overloading in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically active OsteoChondral Unit (OCU)‐on‐Chip platform mimicking the OCU's functional anatomy and the strain gradient across the osteochondral interface is presented. Upon compartment‐specific hyperphysiological compression, the model replicates mechanisms observed in osteoarthritis (OA) progression, such as calcium crystal accumulation ...

Expression of interleukin 2 receptors on activated human B cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Using anti-Tac, a monoclonal anti-interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptor antibody, we have explored the possibility that certain activated B cells display receptors for IL-2.

Epinephrine also acts on beta cells and insulin secretion

open access: yesWorld Journal of Clinical Cases
In a recent review examining neurotransmitter modulation of insulin secretion, the significant impact of epinephrine was not addressed. Its primary action involves inhibiting insulin release via alpha-adrenergic receptors, thereby reducing the response to insulin secretion stimulators, through the activation of K+ channels and resulting in membrane ...

Practical Guide to the Design of Granular Hydrogels for Customizing Complex Cellular Microenvironments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Granular hydrogels are emerging microporous platforms for cell culture and delivery, showing great potential for replicating the complex, heterogeneous environments found in natural tissues. This review outlines the design principles of granular hydrogels, highlighting critical factors that determine the final physicochemical properties of the entire ...

Efficient targeting to storage granules of human proinsulins with altered propeptide domain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
In neuronal and endocrine cells, peptide hormones are selectively segregated into storage granules, while other proteins are exported continuously without storage.

A Short-activating RNA Oligonucleotide Targeting the Islet β-cell Transcriptional Factor MafA in CD34+ Cells

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2013
Upon functional loss of insulin producing islet β-cells, some patients with diabetes become dependent on life-long insulin supplementation therapy. Bioengineering surrogate insulin producing cells is an alternative replacement strategy. We have developed

3D Bioprinted Renal Constructs Using Kidney‐Specific ECM Bioink System on Kidney Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A kidney‐specific bioink derived from decellularized porcine kidney tissue supports the encapsulation, viability, and maturation of human primary kidney cells within 3D bioprinted constructs. In vivo, it also promotes the recruitment of host renal progenitor cells, collectively enhancing structural and functional regeneration of renal tissue.
