Microplatform for intercellular communication

2008 3rd IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems, 2008
A microplatform was designed, fabricated, and tested for demonstrating the propagation of molecular signals through a line of patterned HeLa cells expressing gap junction channels (HeLa Cx43 cells). The microplatform was capable of patterning cells onto a predefined design with lithography and surface chemical treatment.

[Intercellular communication].

Revista medico-chirurgicala a Societatii de Medici si Naturalisti din Iasi, 2000
There are 3 modalities for intercellular communications: the chemical substances secreted by some cells are transported at distance where they act as signals on other cells; the surface molecules of a group of cells interact with the neighbouring cells; some special junctions or nexus provide direct relations between cells.

Contactomics of Microglia and Intercellular Communication

Microglia represent the main immunocompetent cell type in the parenchyma of the brain and the spinal cord, with roles extending way beyond their immune functions. While emerging data show the pivotal role of microglia in brain development, brain health and brain diseases, the exact mechanisms through which microglia contribute to complex neuroimmune ...

Intercellular Communication and Cancer

1977
Among the several different forms of cell interactions known to exist in multicellular organisms intercellular communication provides the most direct form of communication by allowing free exchange of ions and small molecules between neighboring cells via permeable membrane junctions. This type of communication has been implicated in various biological

Intercellular communication: Regulation of plasmodesmata

Current Biology
Intercellular channels called plasmodesmata regulate cell-cell communication in plants. A new study now reveals how the levels of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate and the interaction with MCTP proteins can control trafficking via plasmodesmata in plants.
