Sprayable Polymer Blends With Short‐Chain Surface Segregation for Preventing Postoperative Abdominal Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Adhesions’ high occurrence rates and high morbidity render them a critical challenge to be addressed. Current prevention methods, such as physical barriers, have many limitations, resulting in inconsistent safety and efficacy. This study demonstrates the potential for sprayable polymeric materials as an adhesion barrier.

Hypothermia Promotes Interleukin-22 Expression and Fine-Tunes Its Biological Activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
Disturbed homeostasis as a result of tissue stress can provoke leukocyte responses enabling recovery. Since mild hypothermia displays specific clinically relevant tissue-protective properties and interleukin (IL)-22 promotes healing at host/environment ...

Bioengineered 3D hPSC‐Cholangiocyte Ducts With Physiological Signals for Biliary Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Tian and colleagues generated a bioengineered bile duct from human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)‐derived intrahepatic cholangiocytes within a high‐throughput, 384‐well platform to systematically examine the influence of biliary physiological signals including fluid flow, stromal cells and bile acids, and models intrahepatic biliary disease progression ...

Alloferon and IL-22 receptor expression regulation on the pathogenesis of imiquimod-induced psoriasis

open access: yesScientific Reports
Psoriasis is an immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. IL-22, a proinflammatory cytokine, is implicated in psoriasis pathogenesis; however, there is currently no established biological treatment targeting IL-22 or its receptor, IL-22Rα.

Interleukin-22 and interleukin-22 binding protein signaling axis influences intubation status in trauma

open access: yesSurgery
Interleukin-22 is a cytokine involved in mucosal immunity, whereas interleukin-22 binding protein is a soluble receptor that can potently block interleukin-22. The role of interleukin-22 and interleukin-22 binding protein in trauma remains unclear. This study investigates whether IL-22 levels are associated with intubation in patients with trauma.

Designed Liquid Crystalline Nanoassemblies From Clinically Validated Polyunsaturated Lipids for Combined Antioxidant, Anti‐Apoptotic, and Neurotrophic Treatments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ionizable lipid nanoparticles target multiple pathological pathways in neurodegeneration. The designed self‐assembled materials undergo a pH‐triggered structural transformation from a cubosome/hexosome coexistence to a hexosome phase, enhancing intracellular delivery of a multi‐target phytochemical formulation. The antioxidant‐loaded pH‐responsive LNPs

T Helper 22 Pathway Evaluation in Type 1 Diabetes and Its Complications

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2018
A subset of CD4+ T cells named T helper (Th)22 cells play some pathogenic roles in some autoimmune disorders such as type 1 diabetes (T1D). We aimed to study the correlation between the circulatory number of these cells and serum levels of its related ...

2D Visualization of the Psoriasis Transcriptome Fails to Support the Existence of Dual-Secreting IL-17A/IL-22 Th17 T Cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The present paradigm of psoriasis pathogenesis revolves around the IL-23/IL-17A axis. Dual-secreting Th17 T cells presumably are the predominant sources of the psoriasis phenotype-driving cytokines, IL-17A and IL-22.

Engineering Resatorvid‐Loaded Sub‐Microgels of Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate/Hyaluronic Acid to Treat Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents HAEP@Res sub‐microgels as a lung‐targeted delivery system integrating antioxidant activity with anti‐inflammatory therapy. The sub‐microgels demonstrate excellent biocompatibility, efficiently scavenge intracellular ROS, and downregulate pro‐inflammatory cytokines and genes in a Bleo‐induced ALI mouse model. These findings highlight

Notch signaling contributes to liver inflammation by regulation of interleukin-22-producing cells in hepatitis B virus infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2016
The mechanism of hepatitis B virus (HBV) induced liver inflammation is not fully elucidated. Notch signaling augmented IL-22 secretion in CD4+ T cells, and Notch-IL-22 axis fine-tuned inflammatory response.
