Nemolizumab for the treatment of atopic dermatitis

open access: yesJournal of Dermatological Treatment
Purpose Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common, heterogeneous inflammatory skin disease characterized by chronic or relapsing eczematous lesions and intense pruritus, leading to reduced quality of life and increased mental health burden.

Interleukin-31 promotes pathogenic mechanisms underlying skin and lung fibrosis in scleroderma.

open access: yesRheumatology, 2020
OBJECTIVES Cytokines released by infiltrating T cells may promote mechanisms leading to fibrosis in scleroderma. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the Th2 cytokine IL-31, and its receptor IL-31RA, in scleroderma skin and lung fibrosis.

Clinical implications of interleukins-31, 32, and 33 in gastric cancer

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, 2022
Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignancies in China with a high morbidity and mortality. To determine whether interleukin (IL)-31, IL-32, and IL-33 can be used as biomarkers for the detection of GC, via evaluating the correlations between their expression and clinicopathological parameters of GC patients.Tissue array (n = 180) gastric ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

The Acute Phase Reaction and Its Prognostic Impact in Patients with Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Single Biomarkers Including C-Reactive Protein Versus Biomarker Profiles

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2020
C-reactive protein (CRP) has a prognostic impact in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, the acute phase reaction involves many other proteins depending on its inducing events, including various cytokines that can function as reaction ...

Stronger inflammatory/cytotoxic T cell response in women identified by microarray analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Women develop chronic inflammatory autoimmune diseases like lupus more often than men. The mechanisms causing the increased susceptibility are incompletely understood, although estrogen is believed to contribute.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

IL-33 in Mental Disorders

open access: yesMedicina, 2021
Mental disorders are common in the general population; every year about 25% of the total European population is affected by a mental condition. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders might be underestimated.

Interleukin-31 expression and relation to disease severity in human asthma. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2016
AbstractInterleukin 31 (IL-31) is a novel T helper type 2 effector cytokine that plays an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases. However, its role in human asthma remains unclear. The aim of this study was to measure IL-31 levels in the serum, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and bronchial tissue of asthmatics and healthy subjects ...

Minimizing conservativity violations in ontology alignments: algorithms and evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In order to enable interoperability between ontology-based systems, ontology matching techniques have been proposed. However, when the generated mappings lead to undesired logical consequences, their usefulness may be diminished.
