Expression of interleukin-6 and interleukin-6 receptors in human granulosa lutein cells
Molecular Human Reproduction, 1998Cytokines are important regulators of reproductive functions. Significant amounts of interleukin-6 (IL-6) have been detected in the serum and ascites of patients with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). These findings suggest the involvement of IL-6 as a mediator in the pathogenesis of OHSS.

Serum Interleukin-6 Soluble Receptor in Relation to Interleukin-6 in Stroke Patients
Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, 2004Cerebral ischemia triggers interleukin-6 (IL-6) release into blood. IL-6 is a key mediator of acute phase reaction. Markers of acute phase reaction (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, fever) have been linked to poor prognosis in stroke patients. Interleukin-6 soluble receptor (sIL-6R) can potentiate IL-6 pro-inflammatory activity.

Interleukin-6 and Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor: Direct Stimulation of gp130 and Hematopoiesis
Blood, 1998T HE INTERLEUKIN-6 (IL-6) family of cytokines acts via receptor complexes that contain at least one subunit of the signal transducing protein gp130.[1][1] The family comprises IL-6, IL-11, ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), and oncostatin ...

To study the characteristics of interleukin 6 (IL6), soluble form of interleukin 6 receptor (sILR)/IL6 complex in obese children and adolescents and its relationship with insulin resistance (IR).66 obese children and adolescents [34 boys, mean age 10.3 ± 2.9 years, z-score of body mass index (BMI) 4.76 ± 1.36] and 24 non-obese healthy sex- and age ...

We evaluated the relationship between plasma fibrinogen concentration and the serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), its soluble receptor, and their complex in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study comprised 57 patients with type 2 diabetes and 15 normal healthy controls.

Interleukin-6 and Its Receptor: A Paradigm for Cytokines
Science, 1992Many cytokines and cytokine receptors involved in the regulation of hematopoiesis, immune responses, and inflammation have been identified and characterized at the molecular level. Several characteristic features of cytokines, such as pleiotropy and redundancy, are now more clearly understood on the basis of their molecular structures.

The soluble interleukin‐6 receptor is generated by shedding
European Journal of Immunology, 1993AbstractThe ligand‐binding subunit (gp80) of the human interleukin‐6 receptor (IL‐6R) was transiently expressed in COS‐7 cells. The metabolically labeled protein was shown to be quantitatively released from the membrane within 20 h. We identified the protein released from the transfected COS‐7 cells after purification to homogeneity and N‐terminal ...

The soluble interleukin-6 receptor and related proteins
Best Practice & Research Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2015Interleukin-6 is a cytokine involved in the regulation of the immune system and the central nervous system. Interleukin-6 binds to an interleukin-6 receptor, and then associates with a dimer of the ubiquitously expressed gp130 receptor subunit, which initiates intracellular signaling.

Expression of the interleukin 6 receptor and interleukin 6 in prostate carcinoma cells.
Cancer research, 1991We have probed for the presence of interleukin 6 (IL6) receptors in prostatic carcinoma cell lines (LNCaP, DU 145, and PC3) by examining their sensitivity to the cytotoxic effects of a chimeric toxin composed of IL6 and Pseudomonas exotoxin (PE). All three cell lines were killed by IL6-PE66(4)Glu, a version of IL6-PE in which the binding domain of ...
