Abstract cDNAs for human and murine IL-12 subunits have been cloned (Wolf et al. 1991; Gubler et al. 1991; Schoenhaut et al. 1992). The nucleotide sequences of the p40 subunit from man and mouse (GenBank accession numbers M65292, M65272, and M86671) predict polypeptides of 328 and 335 amino acids, respectively.

Circulating interleukin-10 and interleukin-12 in Parkinson’s disease
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009Interleukin (IL)-12 is a heterodimeric cytokine produced by activated blood monocytes, macrophages and glial cells. It enhances differentiation and proliferation of T cells and increases production of proinflammatory cytokines. IL-10 is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by both lymphocytes and mononuclear phagocytes including microglia.

Interleukin-12 but not interleukin-18 is associated with severe endometriosis
Fertility and Sterility, 2009To evaluate interleukin (IL)-12 and IL-18 levels in the serum and peritoneal fluid of women with and without endometriosis.Cross-sectional survey.University hospital.Interleukin-12 and IL-18 levels were compared in 105 patients submitted to laparoscopy because of symptoms suggestive of endometriosis (pain and/or infertility).

Interleukin-12, interleukin-23, and psoriasis: Current prospects
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2007The clinical phenotype of psoriasis results from infiltration of T cells in the skin and elaboration of inflammatory cytokines. Interleukin (IL)-12 and, more recently, IL-23 have been implicated in the pathogenesis of psoriatic lesions. New therapies, including a monoclonal antibody against a subunit shared by IL-12 and IL-23, have been developed to ...

Interleukin 12 and autoimmune diabetes
Nature Genetics, 2001Interleukin 12 (IL-12) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes in the non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse. Following this lead, a new locus associated with human type 1 diabetes, IDDM18, has been identified near the gene encoding the p40 subunit of interleukin 12 (IL12B).
