Chemotherapy-induced intestinal mucositis (CIM) is a principal reason for reduced living quality of patients undergoing chemotherapy. Growing evidence showed gut microbiota played an important role in the development of intestinal mucositis. Dihydrotanshinone I (DHTS) is a liposoluble extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge with many bioactivities.

The mucosal firewalls against commensal intestinal microbes [PDF]
Mammals coexist with an extremely dense microbiota in the lower intestine. Despite the constant challenge of small numbers of microbes penetrating the intestinal surface epithelium, it is very unusual for these organisms to cause disease.

Guided by pharmacophore modeling and molecular docking, aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR)‐responsive carbon dots were synthesized. They bind directly to AHR and expand gut‐resident regulatory T (Treg) cells. Treg‐derived C‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CCL1) enhances macrophage efferocytosis, creating a pro‐regenetative niche that promotes colonic mucosal ...

A new method for extracting skin microbes allows metagenomic analysis of whole-deep skin [PDF]
In the last decade, an extensive effort has been made to characterize the human microbiota, due to its clinical and economic interests. However, a metagenomic approach to the skin microbiota is hampered by the high proportion of host DNA that is ...

Multifunctional oral delivery system—L. reuteri@ZGM—act as both a carrier and therapeutic adjuvant, providing ROS scavenging, and mucin‐interactive properties tailored to the IBD microenvironment. This bioactive gel safeguards L. reuteri from gastric degradation, enhances mucosal adhesion, and promotes long‐term retention at inflamed sites, thereby ...

Gut microbiota–derived short‐chain fatty acids regulate group 3 innate lymphoid cells in HCC
Abstract Background and Aims Type 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) are essential for host defense against infection and tissue homeostasis. However, their role in the development of HCC has not been adequately confirmed. In this study, we investigated the immunomodulatory role of short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs) derived from intestinal microbiota in ILC3

Mucosal host-microbe interactions associate with clinical phenotypes in inflammatory bowel disease
Disrupted host-microbe interactions at the mucosal level are key to the pathophysiology of IBD. This study aimed to comprehensively examine crosstalk between mucosal gene expression and microbiota in patients with IBD.

Metatranscriptome analysis of the human fecal microbiota reveals subject-specific expression profiles, with genes encoding proteins involved in carbohydrate metabolism being dominantly expressed [PDF]
The human gastrointestinal (GI) tract provides home to a complex microbial community, collectively termed microbiota. Although major efforts have been made to describe the diversity and stability of the microbiota, functional studies have been largely ...

An intelligent engineered probiotic platform is developed for the precision management of inflammatory bowel disease. By integrating surface‐displayed adhesins with an inflammation‐responsive CAT‐SOD‐GPx tripartite fusion system and mucosal repair factors, this programmable system achieves prolonged intestinal retention and multi‐pronged therapy.
