Divergent modulation of iron regulatory proteins and ferritin biosynthesis by hypoxia/reoxygenation in neurons and glial cells [PDF]
Il ferro è il metallo di transizione più abbondante nel sistema nervoso centrale in quanto cofattore di enzimi eminici e non-eminici coinvolti nel metabolismo energetico cellulare.

Purpose: Glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicides (GBH), widely used globally, were initially considered harmless to humans. Experimental studies have suggested that these substances can disrupt iron homeostasis by interfering with iron uptake or ...

This study introduces β‐glucan‐shielded apremilast laden nanomicelles that withstand gastrointestinal degradation, selectively accumulate in inflamed colon tissue, and modulate the microbiota–gut–brain axis. The formulation restores barrier integrity, reduces systemic and neuroinflammation, and improves anxiety‐ and depression‐like behaviors in colitis

A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

Homeostasis and synaptic scaling : a theoretical perspective [PDF]
textAbstract The synaptic input received by neurons in cortical circuits is in constant flux. From both environmental sensory changes and learning mechanisms that modify synaptic strengths, the excitatory and inhibitory signals received by a post ...

To effectively reverse TMZ resistance, this work proposes a cuproptosis‐mediated positive feedback loop that integrates mitochondrial dysfunction, ATP depletion, AMPK‐p53 signaling, and glycolytic inhibition, ultimately amplifying cell death. This cuproptosis‐mediated feedback loop simultaneously disrupts multiple resistance pathways in GBM, including ...

Hepatocyte-specific deletion of peroxisomal protein PEX13 results in disrupted iron homeostasis
Peroxisomes are organelles, abundant in the liver, involved in a variety of cellular functions, including fatty acid metabolism, plasmalogen synthesis and metabolism of reactive oxygen species.

In situ mechanical loading of osteoarthritis‐prone murine knee joints reveals that spatial alterations in subchondral plate microarchitecture precede cartilage loss and promote a shift from coordinated epiphyseal strain dissipation in healthy joints to focal subchondral strain concentration in osteoarthritis‐prone joints.
