Ischemic preconditioning attenuates the lipid peroxidation and remote lung injury in the rat model of unilateral lower limb ischemia reperfusion

open access: yes, 2006
Ischemia and reperfusion of the skeletal muscle tissue may cause remote lung injury. We aimed to evaluate the protective effect of ischemic preconditioning (IP) on the lung during unilateral lower limb ischemia reperfusion (IR)

Atherosclerosis: From Pathogenesis to Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2026.
The diagram outlines the core mechanisms driving atherosclerosis, including endothelial dysfunction, inflammatory responses, phenotypic switching of smooth muscle cells, and the gut–vascular axis. It also presents the corresponding therapeutic approaches now under development, such as gene therapies, immunotherapies, and nanotechnology platforms ...

Remote preconditioning, perconditioning, and postconditioning: a comparative study of their cardio-protective properties in rat models

open access: yesClinics, 2013
OBJECTIVE: Ischemia reperfusion injury is partly responsible for the high mortality associated with induced myocardial injury and the reduction in the full benefit of myocardial reperfusion.

Severe pseudohyperkalaemia in a cat with profound creatine kinase elevation after suspected trauma

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Abstract A 5‐year‐old, neutered, male domestic shorthair cat (5.0 kg) was presented for acute lethargy and inappetence after a suspected traumatic event. The cat was painful over the caudal abdomen and lumbar region, with superficial abrasions.

In Vivo Partial Cell Reprogramming With Yamanaka Factors Reduced Ischemic Brain Damage in Aging Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 11, November 2026.
Short‐term cyclic partial reprogramming with Yamanaka factors protects aged mice from ischemic brain injury, preserving cognitive function, myelin integrity, and neuronal density, supporting partial reprogramming as a promising neuroprotective intervention in aging.

“Life and Lower Limb Threatening Condition” Clinical Features, Management and Outcomes of Diabetic Foot Ulcers Complicated by Gas Gangrene: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 23, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a common complication of diabetes in low‐ and middle‐income countries and may be complicated by gas gangrene (GG), a rapidly progressive, life‐threatening infection. This prospective study assessed whether GG can be diagnosed clinically in low‐resource primary care and explored factors associated with wound‐healing

Influence of age on the development of stress hyperglycemia during first‐onset ST‐elevation myocardial infarction

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 11, Page 1997-2008, November 2026.
Among 8,779 non‐diabetic patients with first‐onset STEMI, older age was associated with a higher likelihood of stress hyperglycemia. However, the excess mortality risk associated with stress hyperglycemia was greatest in younger patients and attenuated with advancing age, highlighting the possibility of age‐dependent prognostic significance.

Optimizing cerebrovascular endothelial health through shear stress modulation

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 11, Page 4987-4998, 1 November 2026.
Abstract The endothelium plays a pivotal role in regulating cerebrovascular blood flow, and its dysfunction increases the risk of cerebrovascular disease. Endothelial shear stress, a primary mechanical stimulus for endothelial nitric oxide production, is a key modulator of vascular adaptation.

Molecular Insight into Acute Limb Ischemia

open access: yesBiomolecules
Acute limb ischemia (ALI) is defined as a sudden reduction in blood flow to a limb, resulting in cessation of blood flow and, therefore, cessation of the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the tissues of the lower limb.
