Cannabinoid exposure during pregnancy: Cardiorespiratory effects and offspring outcomes

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Prenatal exposure to cannabinoids has been investigated across human and animal studies to understand its impact on physiological development. Evidence suggests that early‐life cannabinoid exposure influence multiple developmental processes, extending beyond neurodevelopmental outcomes to potentially affect placental function ...

HC‐A solution limb perfusion alleviates liver damage induced by limb ischemia–reperfusion injury in pigs

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine
AbstractBackgroundThe aim of the study was to explore a feasible method for alleviating limb ischemia–reperfusion injury (LI/RI) through the use of a high‐concentration citrate solution (HC‐A solution) for limb perfusion (LP).MethodsEighteen pigs were divided into three groups: the Sham group, LI/RI group, and HCA group.

Physiological mechanisms underlying enhanced performance with blood flow restriction training: neuromuscular, vascular and metabolic adaptations

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We investigated how 6 weeks of dynamic knee‐extensor interval training with blood flow restriction (BFR‐leg) and without (CTRL‐leg) impacts performance and its mechanisms using non‐invasive methods. Specifically, we used gold‐standard methods to assess neuromuscular function, vascular function using Doppler ultrasound, and near ...

P2X3 receptor antagonism improves hindlimb blood flow during exercise in a conscious ovine model of hypertensive heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend A preclinical large‐animal model of hypertensive heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) was used to examine the role of purinergic P2X3 receptor signalling during treadmill exercise. Animals were instrumented with either thoracic cardiac output and coronary flow probes or abdominal renal and hindlimb blood flow ...

Lower extremity extracorporeal distal revascularization (LEEDR) as a novel approach to limb salvage following prolonged ischemia

open access: yesScientific Reports
Acute limb ischemia necessitates prompt revascularization to preserve viability and minimize systemic ischemia–reperfusion injury. Delays in care increase morbidity and mortality, underscoring the need for nonsurgical temporizing methods. Lower Extremity

Intranuclear localisation of KLF3‐AS1 under the balance of histone acetylation and methylation in BMSCs ameliorates cerebral ischaemia‒reperfusion injury by preserving microglial mitochondrial function and inhibiting inflammatory polarisation

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2026.
Epigenetic activation of KLF3‐AS1 in BMSCs, characterised by increased H3K27 acetylation and decreased H3K27 trimethylation at its promoter, enhances BMSC viability, proliferation and migration. Exosomal KLF3‐AS1 is delivered to microglia, which mechanistically promotes ETV4 nuclear translocation to activate SIRT3 transcription, preserving microglial ...

Beneficial Role of Natural Polyphenols Against Epilepsy: Greasing the Wheels of Pharmacotherapy Research for Epilepsy

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Epilepsy is the most disabling neurological disease that affects all economic classes, age groups, regions, and races. Although many antiseizure drugs are approved for epilepsy treatment, they fail to work in about 30%–40% of patients. Thus, there is a great need to identify better pharmacological agents to treat epilepsy.

Ursodeoxycholic Acid Confers Neuroprotection in Rats With Acute Cervical SCI and Attenuates NLRP3/Caspase‐1/GSDMD Pyroptotic Signaling

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 11, November 2026.
Ursodeoxycholic Acid could inhibit activation of the NLRP3/Caspase‐1/GSDMD pyroptosis pathway and reduce the release of downstream inflammatory cytokines IL‐18 and IL‐1β in rats with acute C5 cervical SCI. This modulation is associated with attenuated secondary injury and improved functional outcomes.
