Investigation of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Mortality Events Targeting Tilapia Lake Virus Disease (TiLVD) in Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 2, March 2025.
Investigation of unusual tilapia mortalities in Bangladesh targeting Tilapia lake virus disease (TiLVD) was done using combined classical (case study and histopathology) and molecular (PCR/real‐time PCR) approaches. No evidence of Tilapia lake virus (TiLV) was detected, highlighting the need for broader studies to uncover alternative causes.

Distribution and Risk Factors Associated With Tilapia Parvovirus (TiPV) Presence in Red Hybrid Tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) Farms in Thailand

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Emerging viral diseases, such as tilapia parvovirus (TiPV), are having a significant economic impact on global tilapia aquaculture. TiPV is responsible for the mass mortality of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and red hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) in China, India and Thailand.

Monogenean Sparicotyle chrysophrii: The major pathogen of the Mediterranean gilthead seabream aquaculture

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 16, Issue 1, Page 287-308, January 2024.
Sparicotylosis has been present in Mediterranean aquaculture of the gilthead seabream for the past 25 years, yet disease management and treatments are not effective. This is further jeopardised by global warming and resistance of Sparicotyle chrysophrii to available anthelminthic compounds.
