Interactions among mitochondrial proteins altered in glioblastoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Mitochondrial dysfunction is putatively central to glioblastoma (GBM) pathophysiology but there has been no systematic analysis in GBM of the proteins which are integral to mitochondrial function.

Therapeutic targeting of chromatin alterations in leukemia and solid tumors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Alterations in chromatin conformation and post‐translational modification of histones have become increasingly recognized as critical drivers of cancer development, progression, and therapy resistance. Recent advances in drug development have led to the establishment of several highly selective small molecule inhibitors, several of which are ...

Potent immunosuppressive effects of the oncometabolite R-2-hydroxyglutarate

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
Somatic gain-of-function mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase (NADP(+)) 1, cytosolic (IDH1) or isocitrate dehydrogenase (NADP(+)) 2, mitochondrial (IDH2) are bona fide oncogenic drivers of acute myeloid leukemia and glioma because the neomorphic enzymes

Deregulated enhancer‐promoter communication in cancer through altered nuclear architecture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Enhancers are critical regulators of gene expression. Structural variations in cancer genomes can lead to enhancer hijacking, where oncogenes are activated by mistargeted enhancer activity. Novel enhancer‐promoter interactions may also arise through chromosomal rearrangements that create extrachromosomal DNA elements.

A strategy for multimodal integration of transcriptomics, proteomics, and radiomics data for the prediction of recurrence in patients with IDH‐mutant gliomas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's new? Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)‐mutant gliomas typically affect young adults and invariably progress toward increasingly malignant phenotypes, despite treatment. Recurrence often is unpredictable, however, indicating a need for a deeper understanding of factors that drive disease return.

Effects of mitochondrial NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase deficiency on fructose-induced obesity in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Obesity prevalence in the United States continues to increase and is associated with health consequences such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and hyperlipidemia.

SERUM TRANSAMINASES AND ISOCITRIC DEHYDROGENASE IN KWASHIORKOR [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pathology, 1960
Serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (G-OT), glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (G-PT), and isocitric dehydrogenase (ICD) have been estimated in six groups of subjects, namely, normal British adults, normal Nigerian adults, undernourished Nigerian adults and children, Nigerian children with florid protein malnutrition (kwashiorkor), and cases of protein ...

Single‐microbe RNA sequencing uncovers unexplored specialized metabolic functions of keystone species in the human gut

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
The human body is inhabited by trillions of microorganisms that play a crucial role in health and diseases. Although our understanding of the species and functional composition of the human gut microbiome is rapidly expanding, species–function heterogeneity and dynamic activities in human microecosystem niches remain unclear.
