Updates on Mediterranean diet and health status: active ingredients and pharmacological mechanisms

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 13, Page 3484-3502, July 2026.
The Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) is among the most extensively studied dietary patterns and has been consistently associated with reduced risk of all‐cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, cognitive decline and several types of cancers.

The effect of various acidic solutions on the concentration of genistein in tempeh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Plan BTempeh is a fermented soyfood that contains a higher level of genistein in comparison to nonfermented soyfoods, such as tofu and soymilk. Control tempehs prepared in this research contained concentrations of genistein seven times greater (49.70 ...

Regulation of soy isoflavones on weight gain and fat percentage: evaluation in a Chinese Guangxi minipig model

open access: yesAnimal, 2011
This study was conducted to determine the effects of soy isoflavones on changes in body and tissue weight and on insulin-like factor I (IGF-I) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ) gene and protein expression in muscle and adipose ...

The Flavonoids Daidzein and Genistein Induce Wall-Deficient Cell Formation in Streptomyces coelicolor Under Hyperosmotic Stress. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Biotechnol
Plant‐derived isoflavones (daidzein and genistein) function as chemical signals that induce stress‐dependent formation of wall‐deficient cells (S‐cells) in Streptomyces coelicolor. ABSTRACT Streptomycetes exhibit a complex multicellular life cycle, including programmed cell death and hyphal differentiation, and can generate extracellular vesicles and ...

Forage Plant Host and Early Feeding Choices Affect Spodoptera litura Feeding, Development and Egg‐Laying

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 7, Page 670-684, July 2026.
We assessed Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) performance on five common pasture plant species. Larvae consumed more dock, plantain and chicory per day than red or white clover, but with lower conversion efficiencies. Feeding on red clover reduced weights and egg laying, and lengthened development times compared with plantain.

Improvement of Colonic Immune Function with Soy Isoflavones in High-Fat Diet-Induced Obese Rats

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Background: The damage to intestinal barrier function plays an important role in the development of obesity and associated diseases. Soy isoflavones are effective natural active components for controlling obesity and reducing the level of blood lipid ...

Contextualized Metabolic Modelling Revealed Factors Affecting Isoflavone Accumulation in Soybean Seeds

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 3543-3559, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Isoflavones, secondary metabolites with numerous health benefits, are predominantly found in legume seeds, especially soybean; however, their contents in domesticated soybean seeds are highly variable. Wild soybeans are known for higher seed isoflavone contents than cultivars. Here we used experimental and modelling approaches on wild soybean (
