Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals the Potential Preventive Mechanism of Lactobacillus salivarius Li01 Against L‐Arginine‐Induced Acute Pancreatitis in Mice

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study reveals that Lactobacillus salivarius Li01 alleviates acute pancreatitis by increasing gut Paramuribaculum. This modulation of the microbiota and its steroid hormone metabolites suppresses the pancreatic TNF signaling pathway, uncovering a protective ‘gut‐metabolism‐immunity’ axis.

Berberine induces caspase-independent cell death in colon tumor cells through activation of apoptosis-inducing factor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Berberine, an isoquinoline alkaloid derived from plants, is a traditional medicine for treating bacterial diarrhea and intestinal parasite infections. Although berberine has recently been shown to suppress growth of several tumor cell lines, information ...

Molecular basis of domain‐specific angiotensin I‐converting enzyme inhibition by the antihypertensive drugs enalaprilat, ramiprilat, trandolaprilat, quinaprilat and perindoprilat

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 2, Page 475-491, January 2026.
Inhibition of angiotensin I‐converting enzyme is an effective strategy for the treatment of hypertension. However, the clinically available ACE inhibitors cause side effects due to nonselective inhibition of the two catalytic domains of ACE (nACE and cACE).

Crystal structures of zinc(II) coordination complexes with isoquinoline N-oxide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications
The reaction of one equivalent of zinc(II) halide salts with two equivalents of isoquinoline N-oxide (iQNO; C9H7NO) in methanol yields compounds of the general formula [ZnX2(iQNO)2], with X = Cl− (I), Br− (II) and I− (III). However, starting with zinc(II)

Indole generates quiescent and metabolically active Escherichia coli cultures. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An inherent problem with bacterial cell factories used to produce recombinant proteins or metabolites is that resources are channeled into unwanted biomass as well as product.
