NaBC1 Boron Transporter Enables Myoblast Response to Substrate Rigidity via Fibronectin‐Binding Integrins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cells transduce the rigidity of the environment into biochemical cues through mechanotransductive cascades that modulate cell behavior. Here, a novel role for the boron transporter NaBC1 is identified as a mechanotransducer involved in regulating cell behavior via specific crosstalk with fibronectin‐binding integrins.

Synthesis, Computational Study, and In Vitro α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Action of Thiourea Derivatives Based on 3-Aminopyridin-2(1H)-Ones

open access: yesMolecules
Reactions with allyl-, acetyl-, and phenylisothiocyanate have been studied on the basis of 3-amino-4,6-dimethylpyridine-2(1H)-one, 3-amino-4-phenylpyridine-2-one, and 3-amino-4-(thiophene-2-yl)pyridine-2(1H)-one (benzoyl-)isothiocyanates, and the ...

Inhibition of Aberrant Activated Fibroblast‐Like Synoviocytes in Rheumatoid Arthritis by Leishmania Peptide via the Regulation of Fatty Acid Synthesis Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LACK156‐173 is internalized into RA‐FLSs via CAPN2‐mediated endocytosis and inhibits the aggressive phenotype of RA‐FLSs by restoring dysregulated fatty acid synthesis metabolism mediated by overexpressed FASN. The findings suggest that targeting the restoration of fatty acid metabolism could potentially alleviate synovial invasion and joint damage in ...

A general and facile one-pot process of isothiocyanates from amines under aqueous conditions

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2012
A general and facile one-pot protocol for the preparation of a broad range of alkyl and aryl isothiocyanates has been developed from their corresponding primary amines under aqueous conditions.

Microbiota‐Derived Inosine Suppresses Systemic Autoimmunity via Restriction of B Cell Differentiation and Migration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactobacillus johnsonii and its associated purine metabolite inosine not only restrict systemic B cell differentiation, but also contribute to immune cell infiltration in the kidneys, thereby serving dual functions in mitigating the progression of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

The use of in-situ deployments to examine the success of water quality mitigation measures on a watercress farm

open access: yes, 2009
Watercress has long been believed to affect macroinvertebrate communities in chalk streams. Harvesting and washing watercress damages plant tissues and releases isothiocyanates which are potential toxicants to Gammarus pulex (L.).

Digestive metabolism of glucosinolates: a novel approach using urinary markers for estimating the release of glucosinolate breakdown products in the gastro-intestinal tract of mammals. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Glucosinolates have been implicated as a mediator of the cancer-protective properties of cruciferous vegetables. Enzymatic hydrolysis of glucosinolates by plant or microbial myrosinase yields a range of metabolites including beneficial isothiocyanates ...
