Circadian Deregulation in Multiple Myeloma: BMAL1/CLOCK Expression Patterns and Diagnostic Performance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 5, Page 1123-1132, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Circadian clock disruption has emerged as a relevant axis in cancer; however, the expression patterns and diagnostic relevance of BMAL1 and CLOCK in multiple myeloma (MM) remain insufficiently defined. Methods BMAL1 and CLOCK mRNA expression was quantified by RT‐qPCR in bone marrow samples from 46 newly diagnosed MM patients and 13 ...

Methionine oxidation enhances kappa-casein amyloid fibril formation

open access: yes, 2012
The effects of protein oxidation, for example of methionine residues, are linked to many diseases, including those of protein misfolding, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Further characterization of rennin action on .KAPPA.-casein using carboxymethylcellulose: Effects of various additives on the enzymatic hydrolysis of .KAPPA.-casein.

open access: yesJournal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology, 1977
The effects of various additives on the reaction of rennin with kappa-casein were investigated by using carboxymethylcellulose. Both urea and sodium 1-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate effectively inhibited rennin action at concentrations larger than 2 M and 2 mM, respectively.

Extrusion Bioprinting for Wound Healing: Innovations in Functionalized Bioinks and Bioprinting Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 18, 18 September 2026.
Extrusion‐based bioprinting (EBB) has emerged as a versatile biofabrication platform capable of precisely depositing bioinks composed of biomaterials, cells, and bioactive agents to generate patient‐specific, biomimetic skin constructs. This paper presents a state‐of‐the‐art and forward‐looking overview of EBB for wound healing, encompassing printing ...

Dissociation from the oligomeric state is the rate-limiting step in fibril formation by kappa-casein

open access: yes, 2008
Amyloid fibrils are aggregated and precipitated forms of protein in which the protein exists in highly ordered, long, unbranching threadlike formations that are stable and resistant to degradation by proteases. Fibril formation is an ordered process that

Whey- vs Casein-Based Enteral Formula and Gastrointestinal Function in Children With Cerebral Palsy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Objectives: Children with severe cerebral palsy (CP) commonly have gastrointestinal (GI) dysfunction. Whey-based enteral formulas have been postulated to reduce gastroesophageal reflux (GOR) and accelerate gastric emptying (GE).

Kappa Casein Gene Polymorphism in Local Tunisian Goats

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Biological Sciences, 2013
The genetic polymorphism of the goat Kappa casein was investigated in Tunisian goats. Blood samples were collected from local goat breeds. Samples of genomic DNA were obtained from leukocytes of 175 dairy goats and regions of interest in the gene were amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and then evaluated in agarose gel.

Comprehensive Peptide Profiling Reveals the Influence of Streptococcus Thermophilus, Lactobacillus Delbrueckii Subsp. bulgaricus, and Endogenous Milk Proteases on the Hydrolysis of Milk Proteins During Early‐Stage Lactic Acid Fermentation

open access: yesChemFoodChem, Volume 2, Issue 3, September 2026.
Untargeted peptide profiling investigates how S. thermophilus, Lb. bulgaricus, and endogenous milk enzymes impact proteolysis during early‐stage milk fermentation. ≥ 3000 identified peptides show the strongest influence of LB on the peptide profile and number of bioactive peptides. Shorter peptides are mostly formed by LB and hydrolyzed by ST.

Frequency of distribution and relationship of polymorphism of milk proteins in Holstein bulls with the productivity of their mothers and assessment of daughters

open access: yesАграрная наука Евро-Северо-Востока
The kappa-casein and beta-casein genes control milk yield, quality of milk and dairy products, therefore they represent important breeding criteria for dairy cattle breeds.
