Fetal Alz-50 Clone 1 Interacts with the Human Orthologue of the Kelch-like Ech-Associated Protein [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemistry, 2004
The fetal Alz-50 reactive clone 1 (FAC1) protein exhibits altered expression and subcellular localization during neuronal development and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. Using the yeast two-hybrid screen, the human orthologue of Keap1 (hKeap1) was identified as a FAC1 interacting protein.

Dimethyl Fumarate Alleviates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis, through the Activation of Nrf2-Mediated Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Pathways. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation play critical roles in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). A previous study has demonstrated that dimethyl fumarate (DMF) protects mice from dextran sulfate sodium ...

NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 inducer activity of some novel anilinoquinazoline derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidant response elements pathway enables cells to survive oxidative stress conditions through regulating the expression of cytoprotective enzymes such

Echinochrome Ameliorates Physiological, Immunological, and Histopathological Alterations Induced by Ovalbumin in Asthmatic Mice by Modulating the Keap1/Nrf2 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2023
Asthma is a persistent inflammatory disease of the bronchi characterized by oxidative stress, airway remodeling, and inflammation. Echinochrome (Ech) is a dark-red pigment with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.

Synthesis of Novel Nitrogen-Containing Heterocycle Bromophenols and Their Interaction with Keap1 Protein by Molecular Docking

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
We previously reported 5,2’-dibromo-2,4’,5’-trihydroxydiphenylmethanoe (LM49), a bromophenol analogue that shows strong protection from oxidative stress injury owing to its superior anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic properties.

PERK prevents hepatic lipotoxicity by activating the p62-ULK1 axis-mediated noncanonical KEAP1-Nrf2 pathway

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2022
Hepatic lipotoxicity is a crucial factor in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis resulting from excessive saturated fatty acid-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated cell death, which is associated with the accumulation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER ...

Pharmacology and clinical drug candidates in redox medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
SIGNIFICANCE Oxidative stress is suggested to be a disease mechanism common to a wide range of disorders affecting human health. However, so far, the pharmacotherapeutic exploitation of this, for example, based on chemical scavenging of pro-oxidant ...

The role of Nrf2-Keap1 axis in colorectal cancer, progression, and chemoresistance

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Colorectal cancer is the third common cancer after lung and genital cancers worldwide with more than 1.2 million new cases diagnosed annually. Although extensive progress has been made in the treatment of colorectal cancer, finding novel targets for ...

Exploiting the Indole Scaffold to Design Compounds Binding to Different Pharmacological Targets

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Several indole derivatives have been disclosed by our research groups that have been collaborating for nearly 25 years. The results of our investigations led to a variety of molecules binding selectively to different pharmacological targets, specifically
