Macrophomina phaseoli Found in Commercial Kidney Bean Seed and in Soil, and Pathogenicity to Kidney Bean Seedlings

About 2% of commercial kidney bean seed (variety Topcrop) were found to be infected with the charcoal rot pathogen, Macrophomina phaseoli (Maubl.) Ashby, and an average of 6 viable microsclerotia were detected in the contaminated dirt per 100g of these seeds.

Pectic polysaccharides were extracted from cotyledons of kidney beans under conditions designed to prevent the degradation of pectic substances and separated into a fraction of neutral polysaccharides and those of weakly acidic pectinic acids containing 12.5 to 35.3% of galacturonic acid.

Abstract A 1‐year‐old Dobermann presented with recurrent episodes of acute diarrhoea and weight loss starting at 5 months of age. An adrenal mass was identified via ultrasound and computed tomography, leading to adrenalectomy. A diagnosis of adrenal neuroblastoma was obtained through histopathology and immunohistochemistry.
