A new class of pentapeptide KISS1 receptor agonists with hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis activation

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2019
The kisspeptin (Kp, Kp-54, metastin)/KISS1R system plays crucial roles in regulating the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone. Continuous administration of nonapeptide Kp analogs caused plasma testosterone depletion, whereas bolus administration caused strong plasma testosterone elevation in male rats.

Increased Expression of KISS1 and KISS1 Receptor in Human Granulosa Lutein Cells-Potential Pathogenesis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

Reproductive sciences (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), 2020
Kisspeptins are a family of neuropeptides that are essential for fertility. Recent experimental data suggest a putative role of kisspeptin signaling in the direct control of ovarian function. To explore the expression of KISS1 and KISS1 receptor (KISS1R) in human granulosa lutein cells and the potential role of KISS1/KISS1R system in the pathogenesis ...

Deletion of GABAB receptors from Kiss1 cells affects glucose homeostasis without altering reproduction in male mice

American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2023
We developed a unique mouse lacking GABAB receptors specifically in Kiss1 cells to evaluate the impact on reproduction and metabolism. Knockout males showed a severe impact on glucose homeostasis, which worsened with aging. These results reinforce the proposed kisspeptin involvement in metabolic regulation and highlight the impact of GABA through ...

Physicochemically and Pharmacokinetically Stable Nonapeptide KISS1 Receptor Agonists with Highly Potent Testosterone-Suppressive Activity

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2014
Modifications of metastin(45-54) produced peptide analogues with higher metabolic stability than metastin(45-54). N-terminally truncated nonapeptide 4 ([D-Tyr46,D-Pya(4)47,azaGly51,Arg(Me)53]metastin(46-54)) is a representative compound with both potent agonistic activity and metabolic stability.

Polymorphism in KISS1 receptor gene was correlated with idiopathic male infertility in Guilan province, Iran

Gene Reports, 2017
Abstract Background Infertility is defined as the inability to get pregnant during 12 months or more regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Fertility is initiated by hormonal signals from brain to the gonads which lead to leakage of gonadotropin hormones.

Regulation of NKB Pathways and Their Roles in the Control of Kiss1 Neurons in the Arcuate Nucleus of the Male Mouse

open access: yesEndocrinology, 2011
Kisspeptin (Kiss1) and neurokinin B (NKB) (encoded by the Kiss1 and Tac2 genes, respectively) are indispensable for reproduction. In the female of many species, Kiss1 neurons in the arcuate nucleus (ARC) coexpress dynorphin A and NKB.

Identification and characterization of mouse metastasis-suppressor KiSS1 and its G-protein-coupled receptor.

Cancer research, 2002
G-protein-coupled receptors receive many different signals to activate different functions such as cellgrowth, proliferation, and migration. KiSS1 is a metastasis suppressor gene that has been shown to inhibit metastasis of human melanomas and breast carcinomas. The human KiSS1 gene encodes a COOH-terminally amidated active peptide, and this peptide is
