Quinolin‐4‐ones were converted to chloroquinolinium salts, allowing formation of axially chiral aminoquinolinium salts via an enantioretentive SNAr reaction with a variety of amine nucleophiles. The salts have a high rotational barrier, with a racemization half‐life of ∼1000s of years.

In vitro activity of the -lactamase inhibitor NXL104 against KPC-2 carbapenemase and Enterobacteriaceae expressing KPC carbapenemases [PDF]
NXL104 is a novel-structure beta-lactamase inhibitor with potent activity against both class A and class C enzymes. Among the class A carbapenemases, KPC-type enzymes are now spreading rapidly and KPC-related carbapenemase resistance is an emerging phenomenon of great clinical importance.

This study developed a pair of duplex RPA‐LFA assays for the simultaneous detection of critical resistance genes, blaCTX‐M/mcr‐1 and blaoxa‐48‐like/blaNDM, from hemoculture samples. Under optimized conditions, duplex RPA was performed at 37°C–38°C for 25 min, followed by LFA for 10–15 min.

KPC with ESBL: A multistarrer tragedy
Background: One of the most dangerous carbapenemase is Klebsiella pneumoniae Carbapenemase or KPC, possessing the ability to hydrolyze the Carbapenems, and other beta-lactams as well like Penecillins, Cephalosporins, and aztreonam. Many members of the family Enterobacteriaceae and few other non-fermenters contain the gene blaKPC, which codes for the

Emergence of KPC-2 and KPC-3 in Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains in an Israeli Hospital [PDF]
ABSTRACT Carbapenem resistance due to KPC has rarely been observed outside the United States. We noticed a sharp increase in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strains possessing KPC in Tel Aviv Medical Center from 2004 to 2006.

Towards Credible GHG Reporting: The Role of GHG Assurance and Assurance Providers in Firm Valuation
The demand for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions disclosures is rising globally; yet, the credibility of such information remains uncertain when assurance is not mandated. Drawing on a sample of firms from 43 countries, this study examines the role of GHG assurance and the choice of assurance provider in the market value effects of GHG emissions.
