Composite Quantile Factor Model [PDF]
This paper introduces the method of composite quantile factor model for factor analysis in high-dimensional panel data. We propose to estimate the factors and factor loadings across multiple quantiles of the data, allowing the estimates to better adapt to features of the data at different quantiles while still modeling the mean of the data.

KLF4 (Kruppel-Like Factor 4)-Dependent Perivascular Plasticity Contributes to Adipose Tissue inflammation [PDF]
Objective: Smooth muscle cells and pericytes display remarkable plasticity during injury and disease progression. Here, we tested the hypothesis that perivascular cells give rise to Klf4 -dependent macrophage-like cells that augment adipose tissue (AT) inflammation and metabolic ...

Acquisition of cancer stem cell properties in osteosarcoma cells by defined factors
Background Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are considered to be responsible for tumor initiation, formation, and poor prognosis of cancer patients. However, the rarity of CSCs in clinical samples makes it difficult to elucidate characteristics of CSCs ...

Factorizations of relative extremal projectors [PDF]
We survey earlier results on factorizations of extremal projectors and relative extremal projectors and present preliminary results on non-commutative factorizations of relative extremal projectors: we deduce the existence of such factorizations for sl(4) and sl(5).

Multivariate to Bivariate Reduction for Noncommutative Polynomial Factorization [PDF]
Based on a theorem of Bergman we show that multivariate noncommutative polynomial factorization is deterministic polynomial-time reducible to the factorization of bivariate noncommutative polynomials. More precisely, we show the following: (1) In the white-box setting, given an n-variate noncommutative polynomial f in F

Klf4 is a transcriptional regulator of genes critical for EMT, including Jnk1 (Mapk8). [PDF]
We have identified the zinc-finger transcription factor Kruppel-like factor 4 (Klf4) among the transcription factors that are significantly downregulated in their expression during epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in mammary epithelial cells and ...

Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) is a transcription factor and plays a vital role in cancer initiation and development. However, the role of Krüppel-like factor 4 in the metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is not clear.

Dysregulation of Kruppel-like factor 4 during brain development leads to hydrocephalus in mice [PDF]
Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) is involved in self-renewal of embryonic stem cells and reprogramming of somatic cells to pluripotency. However, its role in lineage-committed stem cells remains largely unknown. Here, we show that KLF4 is expressed in neural stem cells (NSCs) and is down-regulated during neuronal differentiation.

Tumor-suppressive role of Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF-4) in colorectal cancer
Kruppel-like factors (KLFs) are a group of transcriptional regulators that have recently been identified to exhibit tumor-suppressive function against various gastrointestinal cancers. The present study aims to investigate the expression patterns and prognostic value of KLF-4 in colorectal cancers (CRCs).

Transcription Factors as Therapeutic Targets in Chronic Kidney Disease
The growing number of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is recognized as an emerging problem worldwide. Recent studies have indicated that deregulation of transcription factors is associated with the onset or progression of kidney disease ...
