Interactions of Antibody Drug Conjugate Anti‐Tubulin and Topoisomerase I Inhibitor Payloads with Radiotherapy to Potentiate Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.

Trojan Horse Strategy: How Biomimetic Nanomedicine Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review focuses on biomimetic nanomedicines for tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling, covering their diverse biomimetic types, design principles, and mechanisms of immune cell reprogramming and reversal of immunosuppressive microenvironments, with particular emphasis on their application in synergistic immunotherapy.

Asymmetric dimethylarginine predicts perioperative cardiovascular complications in patients undergoing medium-to-high risk non-cardiac surgery

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2020
Objectives Perioperative cardiovascular events remain an important factor that affects surgery outcome. We assessed if asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), an endogenous inhibitor of nitric oxide synthesis, predicts perioperative risk, and if pre ...

Mitochondrial Transplantation as a Therapeutic Strategy for Inherited Mitochondrial Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial transplantation (MTx) offers a promising therapeutic avenue for mitochondrial diseases. This review comprehensively evaluates MTx, differentiating its feasibility for mtDNA‐ and nDNA‐based disorders. It examines its potential for genetic correction, alongside inherent limitations, technical challenges, and crucial ethical considerations ...

Development, validation, and comparison of four methods to simultaneously quantify L-arginine, citrulline, and ornithine in human plasma using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography and electrospray tandem mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
To understand the role of l-arginine depletion in impaired nitric oxide synthesis in disease, it is important to simultaneously quantify arginine, citrulline, and ornithine in the plasma.

Antitumor Effects of L-citrulline on Hela Cervical Cancer Cell Lines

open access: yesAnti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2022
Introduction: Cervical cancer is the deadliest gynecological malignancy. This study aims to examine the anticancer effects of L-citrulline on HeLa cell culture. Materials-Methods: HeLa cells were cultured in complete Eagle's minimum essential medium. HeLa cells were seeded in 96-well plates and incubated with L-citrulline.

Cytosolic Phosphoenoylpyruvate Carboxykinase Deficiency: Clinical, Biochemical, and Genetic Features of Five Non‐Finnish Patients

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cytosolic phosphoenoylpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK‐C) is an essential, rate‐limiting enzyme in the gluconeogenesis pathway. PEPCK‐C deficiency presents with hypoglycaemia, hyperlactataemia and hepatopathy, and was first reported in association with bi‐allelic PCK1 variants in 2014.

Citrulline Improves Early Post-Ischemic Recovery or Rat Hearts In Vitro by Shifting Arginine Metabolism From Polyamine to Nitric Oxide Formation

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Cardiology, 2018
Background: Reperfusion or reopening of occluded vessels is the gold standard to terminate ischemia. However, early functional recovery after reperfusion is often low requiring inotropic intervention.
