Sulfhydryl Regulation of L-Selectin Shedding: Phenylarsine Oxide Promotes Activation-Independent L-Selectin Shedding from Leukocytes [PDF]
AbstractThe L-selectin adhesion molecule mediates leukocyte recruitment to inflammatory sites and lymphocyte trafficking through the peripheral lymph nodes. In response to leukocyte activation, L-selectin is proteolytically released from the cell surface, disabling leukocytes from the subsequent L-selectin-dependent interactions.

Combining Genome Wide Association Studies and Differential Gene Expression Data Analyses Identifies Candidate Genes Affecting Mastitis Caused by Two Different Pathogens in the Dairy Cow [PDF]
Mastitis is a costly disease which hampers the dairy industry. Inflammation of the mammary gland is commonly caused by bacterial infection, mainly Escherichia coli, Streptococcus uberis and Staphylococcus aureus.

Lung-Derived Selectins Enhance Metastatic Behavior of Triple Negative Breast Cancer Cells
The lung is one of the deadliest sites of breast cancer metastasis, particularly for triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). We have previously shown that the lung produces several soluble factors that may enhance the metastatic behavior of TNBC, including

Perivascular mast cells regulate vein graft neointimal formation and remodeling [PDF]
Objective. Emerging evidence suggests an important role for mast cells in vein graft failure. This study addressed the hypothesis that perivascular mast cells regulate in situ vascular inflammatory and proliferative responses and subsequent vein graft ...

Differential L-Selectin Binding Activities of Human Hematopoietic Cell L-Selectin Ligands, HCELL and PSGL-1 [PDF]
Expression of L-selectin on human hematopoietic cells (HC) is associated with a higher proliferative activity and a more rapid engraftment after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Two L-selectin ligands are expressed on human HCs, P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1) and a specialized glycoform of CD44 (hematopoietic cell E- and L-selectin ...
